Wicca is a modern pagan, witchcraft religion

Wicca is a diverse religion with no central authority or figure defining it.

Wicca often involves the ritual practice of magic, though it is not always necessary

Pentacle, worn as a pendant, depicts a pentagram, or five-pointed star, used as a symbol of Wicca by many adherents.

Beliefs in Wicca range from hard polytheism to even monotheism.

Wicca is typically duotheistic, worshipping a god and goddess traditionally viewed as a mother goddess and horned god.

The term Wicca first achieved widespread acceptance when referring to the religion in the 1960s and 70s

Application of the word Wicca has given rise to "a great deal of disagreement and infighting".

The Goddess and the God may be regarded as the Divine Feminine and the Divine Masculine

The God and Goddess are generally seen as lovers and equals, the Divine Couple who together co-create the cosmos.

Traditionally the God is viewed as a Horned God, associated with nature, wilderness, sexuality, hunting and the life cycle

The Horned God is given various names according to the tradition, and these include Cernunnos, Pan, Atho and Karnayna.

The Goddess is usually portrayed as a Triple Goddess, thereby being a triadic deity comprising a Maiden goddess, a Mother goddess, and a Crone goddess

Some Wiccans, particularly from the 1970s onwards, have viewed the Goddess as the more important of the two deities, who is pre-eminent in that she contains and conceives all. In this respect, the God is viewed as the spark of life and inspiration within her, simultaneously her lover and her child.

Pagan Blog Project F Is For Fire

Pagan Blog Project F Is For Fire
Fire is one of the 4 elements that make up all of creation, the others being Earth, Air and Water. Fire is a profound tool, used, among other things, in candle magic, for offerings, and of course for the more mundane (though no less important) purposes of cooking and warmth. Fire is truly one of the most important tools that early man learned to use.

As I stated previously, in my practice, Fire corresponds to the South, Noon, the Summer, Adulthood, the Mother, the Sun King, Manifestation and Action.

Fire is a masculine element which has both creative and destructive qualities. Fire can be used to burn a paper on which we have written a magical purpose, intent or thing we wish to release, thus destroying the paper and sending the magic imbued on it to the universe for action, fire can be a tool to creativity, as an artist, I use heat to cure my sculpture, flame to sear edges and add details - thus Fire aids in my creative endeavors.

Even when fire is viewed as destructive, as when it ravages a forest, it serves a purpose. Fire cleans away the old and makes way for new growth. Some seeds, such as those from the Lodgepole Pine, require fire in order for them to germinate.

Some additional correspondences for Fire:Color: RedStones: Jasper, Quartz CrystalTool: AthameGoddesses: Brigit, VestaGods: Horus, VulcanRituals: healing, purification, sex, banishing, courage, strength and also for Candle MagicCreatures: Snake, Dragon, PhoenixElemental: Salamander

Fire is featured in many a fairy or folk tale. My favorite is the Russian Folk Tale of Baba-Yagaand Vasilisa the Fair. In this story, young Vasilisa is sent into the forest by her evil step-mother to get fire from the Baba-Yaga, which after completing many difficult tasks Vasilisa obtains and brings home the fire. Unfortunately for the step-mother and her daughters, the fire that Vasilisa brings home purifies the home, killing the step mother and her two evil daughters quickly.

In this tale, the Fire was both destructive and purifying, releasing Vasilisa from the influence of her step-mother and ultimately leading her to a much more pleasant life.

I will leave you with Wendy Rule's song about Vasilias (yes, I am totally on a Wendy Rule Kick right now)!

The Awesome Power Of The Five Step Lectio Divina Method To Scripture

The Awesome Power Of The Five Step Lectio Divina Method To Scripture
"

James Tissot, Jesus Teaches in the Synagogues
" (1886)

In his 2010 encyclical "Verbum Domini "("The Word of the Lord"), Pope Benedict XVI advocated a particular approach to Scripture as a key, both to our personal sanctification, and to Christian ecumenism:

Listening together to the word of God, engaging in biblical "lectio divina", letting ourselves be struck by the inexhaustible freshness of God's word which never grows old, overcoming our deafness to those words that do not fit our own opinions or prejudices, listening and studying within the communion of the believers of every age: all these things represent a way of coming to unity in faith as a response to hearing the word of God.In particular, Benedict called upon us seminarians to develop this relationship with Scripture, via "lectio divina", as preparation for the priesthood:

THOSE ASPIRING TO THE MINISTERIAL PRIESTHOOD ARE CALLED TO A PROFOUND PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD'S WORD, PARTICULARLY IN "LECTIO DIVINA", SO THAT THIS RELATIONSHIP WILL IN TURN NURTURE THEIR VOCATION: IT IS IN THE LIGHT AND STRENGTH OF GOD'S WORD THAT ONE'S SPECIFIC VOCATION CAN BE DISCERNED AND APPRECIATED, LOVED AND FOLLOWED, AND ONE'S PROPER MISSION CARRIED OUT, BY NOURISHING THE HEART WITH THOUGHTS OF GOD, SO THAT FAITH, AS OUR RESPONSE TO THE WORD, MAY BECOME A NEW CRITERION FOR JUDGING AND EVALUATING PERSONS AND THINGS, EVENTS AND ISSUES.SO WHAT IS "LECTIO DIVINA"? Literally, it means "Divine Reading," and it refers to the way that monks have been ruminating on Scripture for centuries. There are five basic steps, in which we answer four questions, and then resolve to act upon those answers:

STEP 1: "LECTIO "(WHAT DOES THE BIBLICAL TEXT SAY IN ITSELF?)IT OPENS WITH THE READING ("lectio") of a text, which leads to a desire to understand its true content: "WHAT DOES THE BIBLICAL TEXT SAY IN ITSELF?" Without this, there is always a risk that the text will become a pretext for never moving beyond our own ideas. Often, we're in such a hurry to get to the second step, determining what the passage means "for us" (or what it means "to us"), that we don't take enough time to focus on what the passage actually means "in itself".

Herein lies the problem with proof-texting passages: some issue is at the forefront of our minds, and we mine the Scriptures looking for support. This approach risks reducing the word of God to a tool in our arsenal for our personal agendas, elevating us at the expense of Divine revelation.

So first things first: what is the initial meaning of the passage? It's only once we've answered this, that we're ready for the next step:

STEP 2: "MEDITATIO "(WHAT DOES THE BIBLICAL TEXT SAY TO US?)

NEXT COMES MEDITATION ("meditatio"), which asks: "WHAT DOES THE BIBLICAL TEXT SAY TO US?" Here, each person, individually but also as a member of the community, must let himself or herself be moved and challenged.

"

Heinrich Hofmann, Christ Among the Teachers
" (1897)

The word of God isn't a dead letter, some ancient text to be read simply for its historical importance. Rather, it is "living and active" (Heb 4:12), one of the ways that Our Lord continues to reveal Himself to us, and to guide us. When lives are transformed by an encounter with Scripture, it's because people realized that God was speaking speaking "to them "through the Bible. He is still speaking "to you "and "to me". Are we taking the trouble to listen to what He has to say?

Bear in mind, when God speaks to each of us through Scripture, He doesn't treat us atomistically. The Body of Christ "does not consist of one member but of many" (1 Cor. 12:14), and if "one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together" (1 Cor 12:26). So God comes to us through His word "as members of the Church", the Body of Christ, which Benedict reminds us is "the home of the word."

This has implications for how we approach the Liturgy. Benedict reminds us that "the liturgy is the privileged setting in which God speaks to us in the midst of our lives; he speaks today to his people, who hear and respond. Every liturgical action is by its very nature steeped in sacred Scripture." For the Christian, then, "A faith-filled understanding of sacred Scripture must always refer back to the liturgy", in which the word of God is celebrated as a timely and living word: 'In the liturgy the Church faithfully adheres to the way Christ himself read and explained the sacred Scriptures, beginning with his coming forth in the synagogue and urging all to search the Scriptures'."

STEP 3: "ORATIO "(WHAT DO WE SAY TO THE LORD IN RESPONSE TO HIS WORD?)FOLLOWING THIS COMES PRAYER ("oratio"), which asks the question: "WHAT DO WE SAY TO THE LORD IN RESPONSE TO HIS WORD?" Prayer, as petition, intercession, thanksgiving and praise, is the primary way by which the word transforms us.The word of God requires a response, and that response begins with prayer. In paragraph 86, Benedict quotes this line from St. Augustine's "Exposition on the Psalms": "Your prayer is the word you speak to God. When you read the Bible, God speaks to you; when you pray, you speak to God."

STEP 4: "CONTEMPLATIO" (WHAT CONVERSION OF MIND, HEART AND LIFE IS THE LORD ASKING OF US?)FINALLY, "LECTIO DIVINA" CONCLUDES WITH CONTEMPLATION ("contemplatio"), during which we take up, as a gift from God, his own way of seeing and judging reality, and ask ourselves "WHAT CONVERSION OF MIND, HEART AND LIFE IS THE LORD ASKING OF US?" In the Letter to the Romans, Saint Paul tells us: "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may prove what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect" (12:2). Contemplation aims at creating within us a truly wise and discerning vision of reality, as God sees it, and at forming within us "the mind of Christ" (1 Cor 2:16). The word of God appears here as a criterion for discernment: it is "living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart" (Heb 4:12).

"

Alphonse Legros, The Calling of Saint Francis
" (1861)

Here again, we meet Scripture as alive, but now, we're looking for something more specific. Before, in "meditatio", we were made aware that God was speaking to us through His word. But now, we're learning what that means, most concretely.

St. Francis of Assisi was inspired to begin his mendicant lifestyle, and eventually the Franciscan Order, after hearing a homily on Matthew 10:7-19. Likewise, St. Augustine recounted the radical conversion he underwent after reading Romans 13:13-14, while St. Antony was converted after reading Matthew 19:21.

When St. Antony heard the line "Go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come and follow me," he didn't just take it as generally directed towards him. Rather, he grasped it as a "specific "call, to go live out a monastic life in the desert. Likely, you won't get that prompting in "lectio divina "(although it's surely possible). But to know what God has in store for you, you should listen to Him carefully, with an ear towards what changes need to be made in your life.

STEP 5: "ACTIO "(LIVING OUT THE "LECTIO DIVINA")We do well also to remember that the process of "lectio divina "is not concluded until it arrives at action ("actio"), which moves the believer to make his or her life a gift for others in charity.Once you know what it is that God is calling on you to do, the next step is straightforward: "do it".

CONCLUSION

If all Christians would undertake the prayerful reading of Scripture in this way, the wounds of the Reformation would almost certainly begin to heal. There are a few reasons for this.

* "FIRST, DISPUTES OVER SCRIPTURE WOULD BE GROUNDED IN THE ORIGINAL MEANING OF THE TEXT. "The first step, "lectio", ensures this. Of course, this limits the potential for textual perversion or proof-texting.

* "SECOND, BECAUSE SCRIPTURE WOULD NO LONGER BE VIEWED AS SOMETHING SOMEHOW CONTRARY TO THE CHURCH OR THE LITURGY". Scripture assumes the norm that it will be read liturgically (Revelation 1:3). Jesus is the exemplar of approach, exegeting Scripture in a liturgical context in the synagogue (e.g., Luke 4:16-21).

* "FINALLY, BECAUSE THERE WOULD BE MORE SAINTS. "As we draw closer to Christ, we cannot help but draw closer to one another, just as spokes draw closer together as they come nearer to the hub.

PUFF PASTRY & POTATO DREIDELS

WITH DOUBLE CARAMELIZED ONIONS

We love Idaho potatoes - they taste great and are grown in the Midwest! Here's a unique way to use our flavorful potatoes and your favorite Chanukah cookie cutters. I'm sure your family and friends will be wowed by these tasty Chankuah dreidels!

.

..

img code photo. POTATO DREIDELS.

media.aish.com/images/matten potatodreidels.jpg

..

..

2 pounds Idaho Potatoes (around 6 medium)

1 large Vidalia or Sweet onion, finely diced (around 2 1/2 cups)

1 garlic clove, minced (or one frozen garlic cube)

1/4 teaspoon sugar

2 tablespoons canola oil

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 large eggs

1 large Vidalia or Sweet onion, thinly sliced

1/2 teaspoon sugar

1 tablespoons canola oil

2 sheets puff pastry, defrosted before using

flour for rolling puff pastry

2 large eggs

2 tablespoons warm water

.

Place potatoes in a large pot and cover with water. Bring the water to a boil over high heat. Cover pot and reduce burner temperature to low. Cook the potatoes covered for 45 minutes until tender when pricked with a fork. Remove the potatoes from the water and allow them to cool completely. This step can be done a day in advance, just keep the potatoes in the refrigerator until ready to use. Peel the cooled potatoes and place them in a large bowl. Set aside.

Heat the oil in a large (preferably non-stick) skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onion, garlic and sugar and saut'e until the onion is golden brown and caramelized, stirring occasionally, around 20 minutes. You may need to reduce the temperature of the flame if the onion starts to burn rather than caramelize.

Click here to receive Aish.com's free weekly email.

Using a fork or potato masher, mash the potatoes until there are no large lumps. Add the caramelized onions. Reserve the skillet from the onions - you will use it to caramelize the sliced onions. Mix the onions and potatoes until thoroughly combined. Add the salt and eggs. Stir until smooth with a fork, removing any remaining lumps.

Preheat oven to 400^0 F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.

Lightly flour a pastry board or mat. Roll out each sheet of the defrosted puff pastry dough to 9 1/2 inches x 12 inches. Spread the prepared potatoes on one of the pastry sheets. Carefully place the second sheet of dough on top of the potatoes, gently pressing to adhere. Using a dreidel cookie cutter, carefully cut out rows of dreidel shapes from the dough. Place each dreidel on the prepared baking sheet.

Whisk the eggs and water together in a small bowl. Brush the dreidels with the egg. Bake for 25 minutes until golden brown.

Heat 1 tablespoon of canola oil in the reserved skillet. Add the thinly sliced onion and sugar. Saut'e for approximately 20 minutes until the onions are caramelized.

Serve the Puff Pastry and Potato Dreidels on a bed of sliced caramelized onions for a beautiful Chanukah appetizer or side dish.

Note: To make these extra special - roll out an additional sheet of puff pastry dough. Using small Hebrew letter cookie cutters, cut out "nun", "gimel", "hey" (or "pey" if in Israel!), and "shin" shapes. Place on top of the unbaked dreidels. Brush with egg, then bake as directed above.

.

HASH BROWN POTATO LATKES

When making potato latkes one of the most time consuming tasks is peeling all the potatoes! Here's a super speedy way to make "almost-from-scratch" latkes, with a "made-from-scratch" taste. No one will ever know that you didn't slave in the kitchen for hours making these delicious latkes - and you'll have time to enjoy them with your family! Now that's one of the real miracles of Chanukah!

TANGY GLAZED CORNED BEEF

(GREAT FOR THE GFE - GLUTEN FREE EATER)

This recipe is great for when life is crazy and you're busily trying to get ready for Shabbat or a Holiday. Preparing it requires very little effort! To get melt-in-your mouth-tender, juicy, flavorful beef you boil the meat in a large pot of water for several hours, then make a simple glaze and bake it for a short time. It couldn't be easier. I once made the mistake of trying to roast a corned beef. UGH, it was one of the worst things I have ever made - it was Dead Sea salty. Boiling the Corned Beef helps to remove a significant amount of the salt - so simple...and so delicious!

.

..

img code photo. TANGY GLAZED CORNED BEEF

media.aish.com/images/matten tangybeef.jpg

..

..

4 pound corned beef brisket

15 ounces mandarin orange preserves

1 tablespoon mustard

1/4 cup ketchup

1/4 cup brown sugar

non-stick vegetable spray

.

Line a large baking pan with aluminum foil. Spray with non-stick vegetable spray. Set aside.

In a large stock pot, cover the corned beef with water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low.

Simmer for 30 minutes. Remove the pot from the heat and drain the water completely. Recover the beef with fresh water. Return to heat and bring water to a boil. Reduce heat to simmer and cook corned beef for an additional 2 1/2 to 3 hours - until beef is tender. Drain water from the pot. Place the beef on the prepared baking pan.

Preheat the oven to 350^0 F.

In a large bowl combine the orange preserves, mustard, ketchup, and brown sugar. Stir until smooth.

Spoon the sauce over the corned beef. After 15 minutes, remove the beef from the oven and spoon the sauce in the pan over the beef. Return the beef to the oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes.

Remove from oven and cool completely. Slice the beef when completely cooled.

Notes:

You can also use apricot preserves or duck sauce as a substitution for the mandarin orange preserves.

This roast slices best after being refrigerated for several hours - use a very sharp knife for best results.

You can freeze this roast. I recommend slicing the roast before freezing.

PAINTED CHANUKAH COOKIES

Here's a fun way for you to include kids of all ages in the Chanukah food preparations. This painted cookie recipe was given to me by my dear friend Hindy who used to make these cookies every Chanukah with her now-grown kids. These cookies really let the budding artist in everyone shine. You just paint the cookies with an egg yolk based "paint" which dries into a shiny glaze while baking. They're beautiful and simple to make - a great addition to your Chanukah celebrations!

.

img code photo PAINTED CHANUKAH COOKIES

media.aish.com/images/matten paintedcookies.jpg

..

1 cup sugar

1/2 cup shortening

2 large eggs

3 cups flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon orange juice

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

additional flour for rolling dough

.

Preheat oven to 375^0 F. Cover 2 baking sheets with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Set aside.

In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside. In a large mixing bowl with a paddle attachment, cream the sugar and the shortening. Add eggs one at a time, then add the orange juice and vanilla and mix until completely blended. Add the dry ingredients and mix until thoroughly combined and dough is formed.

Divide into dough in half, and wrap each half in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for 30 minutes until dough is chilled and easier to handle.

Roll out dough with floured rolling pin on floured board. Use your favorite cookie cutters to cut out shapes. Transfer cookies to prepared baking sheets. Paint with Cookie Glaze.

Bake 8-10 minutes on prepared cookie sheets. Makes a little over 1 pound of dough.

.

PAINTED COOKIE GLAZE

Use new or thoroughly washed paint brushes. You can divide the glaze or make a separate batch for each "paint" color. Use one paintbrush for each different color.

..

1 large egg yolk, lightly beaten

1/4 teaspoon water

assorted food colors.

.

Mix yolk, water and food coloring together in a small bowl. Paint the cookies!

Notes: I have four paint brushes so I let my girls pick four "paint" colors. We found that lighter/brighter colors work a little better than darker ones. We also found that if you would like to layer the colors, start with a lighter color on the bottom. Let it "dry" for a few minutes and then paint over it with your accent colors. Have fun!

HAPPY LEPRECHAUN EMPLOYEES SNAKE DANCE

I'm sure it's very kind of them to provide free flu shots, but several things about this flyer disturb me. Firstly, why are the employees depicted as short, rotund leprechauns? Is this a hint that management is always after our Lucky Charms? Should we be concerned that managers will grab us and demand that we give them pots of gold? Oh my.

Secondly, and even more distressing, is the fact that "dependents" is misspelled twice. That happens every year, despite our best efforts to correct these things with Sharpies.

(There's also a sign in the break room warning that things left in the fridge Friday evening will be, and I quote, "trown out.")

Or, you press specific seen pictures of them on event where they dress to the same extent monks with guitars...in addition lasting. This Seattle duo is attempting to redefine taxing metal, which for them is not scorching guitar solos & standby rich...of which neither is on any of their CDs. Labeled the leaders of ahead of schedule purr metal with tuned low boring guitars played super remaining & taxing on response, minus lyrics, pace, riffs or slang, affect Lou Reed's Metal Craze Music, but far better-quality listenable. Out of total oddball I listened to these guys...and this cat wasn't killed. They're addictive & really do cheer on that taxing isn't in riffs but in sounds & sympathetic & I've been preferably encouraged by them. Altar is a affiliation with Japanese destine group Boris, with band plus Soundgarden's Kim Thayil & Melvin's Joe Preston. This is a thorough starting leg for the humorous as it has a bit better-quality style in the impression than other Sunn 0))) recordings. This is taxing. No suspicion. Sabbath taxing at time even. Metalheads pay attention!"(number one in black and white for the Roman Midnight Music newsletter Affair 3, Feb 2010, uniform for blog)"

Past Lives And Reincarnation What Creates Negative Karma And What Doesnt And Why Youre Coming Back

Past Lives And Reincarnation What Creates Negative Karma And What Doesnt And Why Youre Coming Back
According to life-between-life research involving past life

regression, souls can decide to stay on "the other side" rather

than come back for another lifetime, especially if they've

worked through all of their karma during previous lifetimes

(which is very uncommon). Or they may decide to learn their

lessons in other ways or help others on earth from the other

side. But apparently, most souls are eager to return to Earth

to play the roles they were born to star in.

Know that this is not a personality decision. On a personality

level, you might be dreading every day on this planet, yet

on a soul level, you understand the more spiritual reasons

for why you're here and what you're experiencing. Sometimes

you are not supposed to know the big picture before the time

is right, as there may be lessons in the process that wouldn't

be learned if you were fully aware of your situation. As you

become more aware of yourself and your life, you may find

yourself perceiving the deeper reasons for life's experiences.

Most people cannot remember if they've been here enough

already, but some with very strong psychic and mediumship

abilities may receive strong impressions that this may be one

of the last ones.

Of course, many people say this is their last lifetime, but

how do they really know that? Perhaps they feel they are

a very old soul, but that could just mean they took many

lifetimes to get where they are today, not that they have

balanced all necessary karma. Or maybe they may feel

they're ready to move beyond earth, and that they're

spiritually aware enough to break the cycle of reincarnation.

Frankly, it often seems like wishful thinking in the hope

that they don't have to endure any more earthly challenges

and can instead just enjoy life in "heaven." We can relate

to that, as life on this planet is not easy. In fact, it's commonly

believed to be one of the more difficult places to incarnate.

The best way to make sure you finish your lifetimes here on

earth as quickly as possible and, eventually, enjoy more of the

good things in life, is to "do the right thing" from now on, in

every situation.

In reality, most people don't know for certain if they've

completed all of their karmic lessons or not, and on a soul

level, they may already be planning out many more future

lifetimes. Considering Earth isn't the only place (or

dimension
) where people incarnate (there are billions

of stars like our Sun with likely millions, if not billions,

of inhabitable planets in this universe
), and that life in

this universe has existed for eons, it's reasonable to consider

that souls typically have more lifetimes than you can count,

not only 300 or fewer as some Eastern religions suggest.

There seems to be some confusion in today's society

about what exactly creates negative karma. Based on our

experiences with 1000s of past life regressions, here is what

we've found.

Some actions that generate negative karma include the

following:

*murder, even if you are not caught, unless it's in self

defense

*stealing, even if you are not caught and no matter how

you justify it

*telling a lie that hurts someone else in any way, even if you

are not caught and even if you believe your own lie

*intentionally hurting someone in any way

*not doing the "right thing," subsequently causing someone

else to suffer in any way

*resenting someone; your anger may cause you to be

confronted with similar circumstances in the future

until you learn to forgive and if applicable, take

responsibility for your part of the conflict

*incurring addiction, if it hurts you or anyone around

you

*disrespecting yourself to the point of personal harm (such

as being a martyr
); yes you can gain good karma by helping

others through martyrdom, but you still may have to balance

a lack of self-respect

Some situations that are oftentimes believed to produce

negative karma, but do not, include the following:

*making, or otherwise acquiring a lot of money, as long as

you do so honestly

*having a lot of money and not giving a lot away to charities;

the world is not your responsibility, yet of course you gain

karmic credits or in some cases, pay back karmic debts by

helping others, and besides, it feels good

*lying to protect someone, as long as you're not hurting

someone else in the process, or helping that person you're

protecting to dodge taking responsibility for their actions

*breaking up with a partner, as long as you are not

intentionally doing anything to hurt them in the

process; their resistance and difficulty with it is not your

responsibility

*divorce, as long as you take care of your responsibilities

and leave peacefully

*having without being married, as long as you do not

intentionally hurt anyone (or yourself) in the process

*practicing non-monogamy, as long as you are honest with

everyone involved, are acting responsibly, and do not

intentionally hurt anyone in the process

*accidentally hurting someone in any way, but any guilt

could cause you to experience a reaction in the future if

you don't let go of it

*prostitution, as long as it's between two consenting adults

and you are not intentionally hurting anyone in the process

*exceeding the speed limit, although any associated guilt

may create karmic ties

*having a few drinks, although if done regularly enough in

excess, you're disrespecting and hurting yourself, therefore

incurring negative karma

*being a single parent or having a child outside of marriage,

as long as you provide for the child and be the best parent

you can be

*refusing to give in to others' "shoulds" ("you should do this

or that"
); it's your life and you know what's best for your highest

good; as long as you're not hurting yourself or anyone else you're

free to live your life as you desire

By the way, confessing to a priest or praying for forgiveness

will not excuse you from any negative karma you've created.

Also, it's debatable whether or not practicing self-forgiveness

will completely get you off the hook, since your future karmic

circumstances are determined by your soul, not your personality.

No one, no matter how psychic or spiritual they are, can

cheat karma and avoid future negative consequences if they

don't "do the right thing." Everyone needs to return to school

house Earth (or a similar place) until they've resolved all their

karma and paid all their dues. If you, at any time, do not "do

the right thing,
" in most cases, you're essentially buying a

round trip ticket back to this planet for another life to endure

your tests again. Admittedly, "doing the right thing" sometimes

seems all but impossible for many due to the forces of personal

fate; people will behave in accordance with their level of

awareness more often than not, not as they "could" to

minimize karmic consequences, but at least you know

that ultimately it's up to you take the high road to avoid

accumulating additional negative karma.

Philosophy Of Religion Spirit Of The Buddha

Philosophy Of Religion Spirit Of The Buddha
Prince Siddhartha saw four powerful signs: aging, illness, death, and disowning.Cynthia L. Pauwels, M.A. (METAPSYCHOLOGY)THE Essence OF THE BUDDHA by Martine Batchelor (Yale Speculative Twist, 2010): In the opening pages, novelist Martine Batchelor interpretation that her thought is to make this calming intensity "not about Buddhism," but "about the Buddha."
