What do I mean by MAGIC PRODUCTS? I am talking about pre-made incenses and candles, all the wands and crystals and potions and supplies that you need to cast a magic spell. How powerful and helpful are all those magic products? It, of course, depends on who made them, and with what intentions. You can imagine that if you came across an ancient little chest of magic products, once made by Merlin himself for his own personal use, they would be good. Very good. You would think.

Similar looking magic products made on a massive robotic conveyor line somewhere in a non-descript factory and untouched by human hands, never mind any practicing magician's hand - would be less effective.

You bet! You could guess that such magic products were made with one sole purpose - of making money for the manufacturer. But that is not necessarily such a bad thing. Because - what if the genuine magic product maker was an evil magician, who infused the product with their own evil will?

Aha! I am sure you would want to stay away from those!

In the end, of course it's you, the witch or the magician, who puts their own personal power and conviction into a successful spell. And you don't necessarily need "magic products" with lot of past history embedded into them. I would much rather have a good magic product made by a good person, or even a commercial product of good quality, then something with a lot of unknown history. It is then a clean slate into which you can infuse your own energy.

I have bought plenty from Amazon over the years and always found them to be reliable, and now with vendors selling through them, there is amazing choice.

Beloved in the Lord,

The Lord does not want slaves in His Kingdom.

We are living at a time in which most people stress their total independence of all things or they prefer to come under the shelter and obedience of a charismatic leader. Few are they who follow the Christian principle of adoption as God's children.

Nowhere in the oral and written testimony of the Church does one read that a person should be totally independent of all influence which is an impossibility, nor does one find that a person should practice blind obedience to any other person.

Our Lord says, "Whoever wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me." (Matthew 16:24 and Mark 8:34)

Having been created in God's image, we have intellect, cognition, freedom of choice, and understanding. When the Lord invites us to deny ourselves, He does so in order for us to realize that we must first make the decision that we are not who we think we are, but that we are to seek and find Christ within us as our real selves. Once we find Christ within us and we understand and accept that we are created in His image, He then adopts us, not as slaves, but as free and loving sons and daughters (cf. Galatians 4:1-7)

For one to have a blind obedience to another, whether a lover, or a master, or a religious guru, means that such a person no longer has a free will but has turned it over to another creature.

When a Christian turns his free will over to Christ, the Lord purifies it and returns it to him so that his obedience thereafter is based only on love exercised through that free will.

When our Lord expressed His obedience to the Father by emptying Himself of His glory and becoming one of us, He did so with the exercise of His free will. Otherwise He could never have said on the Cross, "Father forgive them for they do not know what they are doing." It was His free will in obedient love to the Father that effected the Supreme Sacrifice.

Today it seems that some people will not make a move unless they check with their spiritual father in virtually everything. This phenomenon happened with certain converts to Orthodoxy some years ago when they were told where to live and where to work and how much money to contribute to the Church.

They thought that they were imitating the first Christians in the Book of Acts who held everything in common. But they did realize that the first Christians lived this way because they believed that the Lord was to return during their lifetime. Consequently these new Orthodox converts exercised a blind obedience to their religious leaders, relinquishing their free wills and their responsibility for making their own decisions regarding their families, their livelihood, and their welfare.

This spirit of blind obedience with the deadening of the free will is unfortunately being practiced among some of our people and even by some of our clergy. They will not do anything without first receiving a "blessing" from their "spiritual father." And if they have been convinced that the spiritual father is a walking saint, they will eat his unfinished food after the common meal and even consume other things which may have touched the spiritual father in some particular way. This is nothing more than idolatry. It puts God aside and constitutes the worship of His creature.

It may be that some of our people, by following the monastic rule in the outside world, feel convinced that they are becoming more spiritual. However, they are sadly mistaken; for the monastic, as a novice, is willingly obedient in order to determine if he wishes to live the life of a monastic. Once he is accepted as a monk, he must resume the use of his free will in conforming to the way of life which he has chosen. The laity, on the other hand, cannot use the monastery or the spiritual elder as one uses a horoscope, not functioning unless they receive permission.

Actually, such an attitude betrays the fact that these people do not wish to accept the responsibility of directing their own lives, and prefer to pass this responsibility on to another.

If there are members of the Diocese who have fallen into the error of negating their free will and being totally dependent on what their spiritual mentor instructs them to do, let them know that God does not want slaves in His Kingdom, but obedient children who constantly exercise their free will as sons and daughters of our Father in heaven.

May God's blessings enrich your priestly ministry throughout this new year.

Last Fall and specifically on October 28, 1998, I wrote an encyclical to you numbered 98-21 regarding the use of the free will and how certain individuals prefer to negate their free will and to depend solely on spiritual mentors in all things.

I am totally surprised that certain persons misinterpreted the encyclical and thought that I was criticizing our Orthodox monastics and specifically one or two of our Orthodox elders. Obviously such persons do not fully understand the English language; for if they had read my letter carefully, they would not have thought that I was critical of religious or spiritual leaders per se, whether legitimate ones or false ones.

I was clearly referring only to those followers who relax or negate their free wills. It is never a truly spiritual mentor or religious leader who relaxes his followers' free will; rather it is the followers who prefer to do this because they do not want to be responsible for their own lives. Such individuals even include priests who on occasions use religious leaders like others use a horoscope.

I am disappointed that certain individuals stated that I was critical of real spiritual leaders. They should understand that I was cautioning the clergy to make our people aware of the fact that they, the people, must continue to exercise their free will in following religious leaders, and to continue to use their free will while being obedient to such leaders or to the life style they believe will edify them.

Please read my encyclicals with care. Do not read into them, but read out of them.

VATICAN CITY (AP) -- In a joint press conference in St. Peter's Square this morning, MICROSOFT Corp. and the Vatican announced that the Redmond software giant will acquire the Roman Catholic Church in exchange for an unspecified number of shares of MICROSOFT common stock. If the deal goes through, it will be the first time a computer software company has acquired a major world religion.

With the acquisition, Pope John Paul II will become the senior
vice-president of the combined company's new Religious Software Division, while MICROSOFT senior vice-presidents Michael Maples and Steven Ballmer will be invested in the College of Cardinals, said MICROSOFT Chairman Bill Gates.

"We expect a lot of growth in the religious market in the next five to ten years," said Gates. "The combined resources of MICROSOFT and the Catholic Church will allow us to make religion easier and more fun for a broader range of people."

Through the MICROSOFT Network, the company's new on-line service, "we will make the sacraments available on-line for the first time" and revive the popular pre-Counter-Reformation practice of selling indulgences, said Gates.
"You can get Communion, confess your sins, receive absolution -- even reduce your time in Purgatory -- all without leaving your home."

A new software application, MICROSOFT Church, will include a macro language which you can program to download heavenly graces automatically while you are away from your computer.

An estimated 17,000 people attended the announcement in St Peter's Square, watching on a 60-foot screen as comedian Don Novello -- in character as Father Guido Sarducci -- hosted the event, which was broadcast by satellite to 700 sites worldwide.

Pope John Paul II said little during the announcement. When Novello chided Gates, "Now I guess you get to wear one of these pointy hats," the crowd roared, but the pontiff's smile seemed strained.

The deal grants MICROSOFT exclusive electronic rights to the Bible and the Vatican's prized art collection, which includes works by such masters as Michelangelo and Da Vinci. But critics say MICROSOFT will face stiff challenges if it attempts to limit competitors' access to these key intellectual properties.

"The Jewish people invented the look and feel of the holy scriptures," said Rabbi David Gottschalk of Philadelphia. "You take the parting of the Red Sea

But others argue that the Catholic and Jewish faiths both draw on a common Abrahamic heritage. Over the last 2,000 years, the Catholic Church's market share has increased dramatically, while Judaism, which was the first to offer many of the concepts now touted by Christianity, lags behind.

Historically, the Church has a reputation as an aggressive competitor, leading crusades to pressure people to upgrade to Catholicism, and entering into exclusive licensing arrangements in various kingdoms whereby all subjects were instilled with Catholicism, whether or not they planned to use it. Today Christianity is available from several denominations, but the Catholic version is still the most widely used. The Church's mission is to reach "the four corners of the earth," echoing MICROSOFT's vision of "a computer on every desktop and in every home".

Gates described MICROSOFT's long-term strategy to develop a scalable religious architecture that will support all religions through emulation. A single core religion will be offered with a choice of interfaces according to the religion desired -- "One religion, a couple of different
implementations," said Gates.

The MICROSOFT move could spark a wave of mergers and acquisitions, according to Herb Peters, a spokesman for the U.S. Southern Baptist Conference, as other churches scramble to strengthen their position in the increasingly competitive religious market.

Liquid Kitchen And Proper Perception In Persecution

We were informed that Liquid Kitchen hadn't officially opened yet and the launch would be sometime in May or June.

Chris (Chia) gave a really spot-on sermon on 1 Peter 1:10-12 (he should go for conferences more often, is always recharged when he returns!).

Peter was writing this letter to a Christian audience who were finding it difficult to live in this world. They may not have been physically persecuted, but they definitely sticking-out like sore thumbs. They were aliens and strangers in a foreign land (1:1). They were suffering griefs and many trials (1:6) and finding it hard to live God's way.

Peter wanted to put their griefs and trials in the proper perspective. He wanted them not to self-centredly focus on how much they were persecuted or how grievously they were suffering but to focus on God and how privileged and blessed they were to even know him.

Even though they had no merit, God was the one who called them to himself and God was the one who continued to sustain them as Christians, through the Spirit (1:2). He called them to an inheritance and he would also keep that inheritance safe for them until the time came for them to inherit it (1:4-5).

God worked through the actions of others to bring people into his kingdom: the prophets, the apostles, the preachers who taught and continued to teach God's word and the gospel (1:10-12).

And so it is for us.

If we think back past an obvious particular point of conversion, most of us realise that many people and various circumstances were links in the chains of our conversion stories: some first introduced us to God and the Bible (probably in the context of food and drink), some pushed us along by questioning our ideas and value systems, some answered nagging doubts and intellectual pretzels, others inspired us by their loving behaviour to investigate their God seriously...everyone is a link in the chain in the plan that God has ordained before the universe began to bring us to himself. It's not our evangelistic methodology or charisma or persuasive skills that bring people to Christ. It is God who is at work through us and through circumstances and also in the opening of the eyes of those who are blinded to the truth.

No one disputes the ultimate work of God in all this. But we usually just pay it lip service.

Chris gave the example of Hudson Taylor and gang: they were eager to evangelise China. Donations and missionaries poured in from all over the Western hemisphere. When they finally set forth and arrived in China, they fell to squabbling over which evangelistic methods were better, and things turned nasty and ungodly. Then, the Communists came into power and these squabbling missionaries were forcibly expelled from China to South-East Asia. All their arguments and methodologies came to nothing as the Communists clapped down on religion. Reluctantly, they spread the gospel in South-East Asia, their second choice mission field. Many decade later, the growth of Christians in the world is now fastest in China. Far more than Hudson Taylor and gang ever saw in their squabbling years there. And the people who are proclaiming the gospel to the Mainland Chinese now are the Chinese from South-East Asia, who heard the gospel only because the missionaries were forced out of China.

God is truly in control. And he will call people to himself in his own time, in his own way.

In our griefs and trials, as we struggle to hold on to the faith and feel that God is slowly but surely abandoning us, we must also trust that the God is in control, and that he who has called us will also protect us and keep us Christian no matter how far we feel from him. Our relationship with God is not based on our subjective feelings (eg. today he feels close to me or today, he feels far from me) which are disgustingly self-centred; instead, our relationship with God is based on the solid objective fact that Christ has died for our sins, and his resurrection from the dead is what gives us the living hope of salvation from God's wrath (1:3). We were as close to God when we first believed as we are in our deepest darkest moments of despair.

God has promised to keep us, and God has the ability to keep us.

Peripatetic But Now Home

As many of you know, we have just returned from a series of trips to various Pagan Pride Days and other meetings and festivals around the nation. Instead of writing numerous letters to each individual person or group that hosted us, we want such parties to be widely known and acknowledged for their generosity. We have deliberately not mentioned surnames; it's not our place to out anybody who feels they can't afford to be outed. Please, every reader, know our boundless gratitude. Face reality: Together we are changing the face of this nation. Here is some of what happened.1. Cindy and T.J. in Erie arranged for us to attend the Erie PPD and to visit the Unitarian-Universalist fellowship for a presentation. Here we must also thank Diana and Rich and all the four-legged beings who opened their dwelling, for their hospitality and for the comfortable bed.2. We move to the Mountain Mabon Mysteries near Stanardsville VA. Our thanks to Deb for inviting us and for all her effort in our behalf, despite the imminent arrival of Evan; to wonderful Catt for feeding and looking after us. We are getting old, after all, and do need a certain amount of logistical support to get around. Indeed, everyone on site was kind beyond the demands of politesse. What a variety of skills they demonstrated.3. On southward to Little Rock AR and meetings with pagans from the area, at El Paso Community Center, and then a wonderfully successful presentation at the Unitarian-Universalist fellowship of Little Rock. Our choreographer here was the Egyptologist and our warm hostess Fran, and we slept at Krystina's residence. We owe both these good people, and their associates, a great debt.4. We spent a couple of pleasant days down in Hot Springs with David and Bryen and Pa Don, and got a chance to meet (too briefly) Tii and Ra and their front-door greeter. Then it was on to Conway for another really wonderful session with the departments of Religious Studies and Philosophy, and the heads of both departments, at University of Central Arkansas. They told us that no speaker earlier had had such a numerous attendance; somebody figured that about 85 people came in. Then it was on to a potluck meet-and-greet supper with Werfriends at the home of Beth and Stephen (or Steven? sorry), organized principally by Uni. Many of the people we met had really never had a chance to see for themselves what pagan/Wiccan fangs and hairy palms actually look like. We were as open as we knew how to be, in the hope that any reflexive adrenalin would be calmed down and stabilized. Throughout all this caper we owe thanks to Krystina for giving us her own bed and space in her dwelling despite her busy schedule; also to Bryen and David for transportation and bed.4. Then it was northward to Fayetteville and Springdale AR (near the foot of the great Walmart shrine in Bentonville) and to Debra, who hosted us for a week while Gavin had the flu for the first part and she herself had flu the second part. Debra, Cody, Mitch, assorted schnauzers, and a Maine Coon cat all played their roles in keeping us stable. We gave a presentation at Passages book store, did a book signing at Hastings, and presented at the Pagan Pride Day in Fayetteville.5. The trip northward into Missouri brought us up to our old friends of Greenleaf Coven, a coven led by Pat and HP Bill for more years than they or we can remember. They held a Witches' Ball together with what we call the Samhain Seminar : a series of talks of which all were not just highly enjoyable but also thoroughly informative. Praise to the scholarship that enriched us. A self-effacing lady with a French name shyly got introduced and then left. After her departure someone told us she had left us a mind-bending gift appropriate to the Craft and to the season of the year : mead, a beautiful wooden bowl, and tea towels. Come on, Lady. We can't have reticent, indeed furtive, behavior of this nature. Next time our paths cross, let us thank you properly! Fair is fair. Again, Pat hosted us to a room at the very comfortable Lamplighter Inn in Springfield.6. So we're home once more, after nearly three weeks on the road. Three weeks is a l o n g time. Gavin seems to have recovered, whereas Yvonne is now fighting a bronchial manifestation of some kind. But as she says, a few days in her own matrix, with her own washing machine and her own bed, should fix her up, especially if we can summon the resolve to do our customary self-directed aquarobics. We have mentioned many generous people. Numerous others worked more behind the scenes so that we were less aware of their efforts. This is not by any means to disregard them. All we can say is, thank you all enormously. We hugely enjoyed your company and the exchange of ideas, and one of these years we'll do some of it again. So beware. We walk among you and you know us not. Blessed be those who remain true to their considered path.

Jason Miller Yvonne Chireau And Soul Readings

Assisting others through Soul Readings often makes me feel like all of my struggles have been worth the pain of getting here. Yes, I've been treated poorly. Yes, I've treated others poorly. Yes, sometimes hell landed on me for no reason I could discern. Now, none of that matters. Between the vision of perfection that lives in my heart and aiding others through soul readings, healings and the Manifestation Meditation, I have found my home.

A big part of the soul reading part came from one Jason Miller in a very roundabout way. Many years ago, I bought a talisman from Jason. This was so long ago that I cannot remember the purpose. I do remember that it worked swimmingly. So, when he advertised a wealth talisman, I bought one.

The string immediately broke when I tried to wear it as jewelry. I figured that I was rich enough, Jason didn't like me much (as I had recently been an ass) or I just wasn't in line with wealth magick. I shrugged, tossed the talisman on a side shelf in my temple space and, fifteen seconds later, forgot about it.

My attitude has always been one that selling magick is wrong. Jason and others broke me of that train of thought as it applied to them. For myself, I wasn't going to move off that moralistic stand. Maybe it was my Hermetic training, "promise nothing except to heal and that gratis," but I think it was something more than that as my attitude about selling magick was there long before being exposed to those words.

Getting back to the talisman, magick flows, like water, to the point of least resistance. In my life, there is not a lot of room to make more money. I have a 8 to 5 government job and I am lazy. I am not about to work nights/weekends for extra income. Even if I wasn't lazy, my back doesn't make me a reliable worker. There is no one in my family about to die and leave me money. My protection magick is strong enough an accidental injury that leaves me at least financially better off is unlikely.

Despite obstacles formidable enough to block manifestation, Jason's magick pushed through and went the only place it could. It traveled into my magickal life, changed my attitudes about selling my skills and, maybe, was part of the inspirational epiphany that lead to both the Manifestation Meditation and Soul Readings. So, if you've benefited from my healing work or a soul reading, Jason Miller played a distant part in that. I am in no way diminishing my hard work. I am recognizing a piece of the whole.

Last weekend, my friend, cheerleader and soul readee, Yvonne Chireau, who at one time wrote the most awesome class endorsement I ever received (below), attended the Crucible, a convention of magick users. There, she came across Jason Miller, bought a copy of his latest book and had him sign it for me. I was surprised to find this wonderful gift in my mailbox.

Here we are at all full circle. Jason's financial work is back in my lap. Given that last night I was instructed by the image of Binah to work with all the planets and Jason's book has lightening glyphs of Jupiter, I see myself utilizing his book to build a more consistent body of work with Soul Readings and Healings. This will mean doing the magick and dedicating certain days for fulfilling appointments that have priority over all other activities. I need to run it like a business.

Stay tuned here for posts on how all that works out and how Jason's teachings work. In the meantime, consider this as an endorsement of any talisman Jason sells and a plea to buy his book. I haven't read it yet but I know it is awesome.

The heart of things are different from the heart of people. The heart of the person, in this case is the spiritual or astral heart. The heart of a being is its energy. The heart of the machine is its energy supply or energy flow. The heart of an object is its energy makeup.

When you heart wreak, you can get the person's experience. Alternatively, you can get the experience of the machine or object. Basically, what you can get with heart wreaking is what the target goes through and experiences. You might go through the effects of what occurs with the earth or planet. If you targeted a nuclear power plant with a heart wreak, you can get the experience and energy of the plant. Its a choice to do on a moment's notice.

The effect of breaking something is to cause a breaking of bad energy or targeting energy in someone, including yourself, and the surrounding area. If you don't want heart wreaking done, then think it not happening and will it to be so. Then, it won't happen to you or the target.
