Wicca is a modern pagan, witchcraft religion

Wicca is a diverse religion with no central authority or figure defining it.

Wicca often involves the ritual practice of magic, though it is not always necessary

Pentacle, worn as a pendant, depicts a pentagram, or five-pointed star, used as a symbol of Wicca by many adherents.

Beliefs in Wicca range from hard polytheism to even monotheism.

Wicca is typically duotheistic, worshipping a god and goddess traditionally viewed as a mother goddess and horned god.

The term Wicca first achieved widespread acceptance when referring to the religion in the 1960s and 70s

Application of the word Wicca has given rise to "a great deal of disagreement and infighting".

The Goddess and the God may be regarded as the Divine Feminine and the Divine Masculine

The God and Goddess are generally seen as lovers and equals, the Divine Couple who together co-create the cosmos.

Traditionally the God is viewed as a Horned God, associated with nature, wilderness, sexuality, hunting and the life cycle

The Horned God is given various names according to the tradition, and these include Cernunnos, Pan, Atho and Karnayna.

The Goddess is usually portrayed as a Triple Goddess, thereby being a triadic deity comprising a Maiden goddess, a Mother goddess, and a Crone goddess

Some Wiccans, particularly from the 1970s onwards, have viewed the Goddess as the more important of the two deities, who is pre-eminent in that she contains and conceives all. In this respect, the God is viewed as the spark of life and inspiration within her, simultaneously her lover and her child.

Simbolurile Lunii Decembrie
Numele decembrie provine din latinescul " decem", adica "zece", aceasta luna fiind cea de-a zecea in calendarul roman inainte de introducerea lunilor ianuarie si februarie. In timp ce 1 decembrie reprezinta in emisfera nordica prima zi a iernii meteorologice, aceeasi zi marcheaza debutul verii meteorologice in emisfera sudica. Potrivit altei superstitii, turcoazul imprumuta caracteristicile persoanei custody il poarta. Alte proprietati magice ale turcoazului sunt : - amuleta conflicting deochiului- protejeaza impotriva intepaturilor otravite, a orbirii, asasinarii si mortii accidentale.- absoarbe energia negativa si poseda vibratii vindecatoare foarte puternice.LAPIS LAZULI este o gema incarcata de istorie si legende. In cultura egipteana antica exista practica de a se aseza in morminte o piatra de lapis lazuli in forma de scarabeu, in scopul protejarii decedatului. In multe civilizatii stravechi, aceasta gema era mult mai pretuita decat aurul. ZIRCONUL inglobeaza simbolurile intuitiei, adevarului, stabilitatii si credintei. Originari din regiunea mediteraniana, SMOCHINII apar in multe imagini reprezentand gradina raiului. The Secret History Of Lucifer And The Meaning Of The True Da Vinci Code By Lynn Picknett

"LYNN PICKNETT EXPLAINS IN THIS HIGHLY READABLE AND WELL-RESEARCHED ACCOUNT THAT THE HORNED DEVIL - NOW POSITED AS AN ANTITHESIS OF GOD - IS MERELY A NEW, AND ADMITTEDLY MORE EVIL, INCARNATION OF THE OLD WOODLAND DEITY PAN; WHILE LUCIFER WAS ONCE A PERSONIFICATION OF THE MORNING STAR, THE PLANET VENUS, AND ITS GODDESS. "HE" WAS THEREFORE ORIGINALLY "SHE," AND A DIVINE REPRESENTATION OF LOVE, BEAUTY, AND HUMAN WARMTH. INDEED, MANY ANCIENT GODDESSES WERE KNOWN AS LUCIFERA, OR "LIGHT-BRINGER" - AN HONOR EXTENDED TO MARY MAGDALENE IN HER TRUE ROLE AS GODDESS-WORSHIPPING PRIESTESS AND CHRIST'S SUCCESSOR. WHILE THOUSANDS FOLLOW LUCIFER IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE EARTHLY WEALTH AND POWER, PICKNETT EXPLAINS THAT SUCH MISGUIDED BEHAVIOR IS FAR FROM TRUE LUCIFERAN PRINCIPLES. PICKNETT DRAWS TOGETHER ANCIENT HERETICAL CHRISTIAN AND EGYPTOLOGICAL TEXTS, AND THE IMPLICATIONS OF ABNORMAL PSYCHOLOGY AND THE "EXTREME POSSIBILITIES" OF CERTAIN BARELY UNDERSTOOD HUMAN ATTRIBUTES TO POSE THE QUESTION: HAVE WE HUMANS ACTUALLY CREATED GOD AND LUCIFER, NOT MERELY AS ICONS OR METAPHORS, BUT IN A TERRIFYING WAY, LITERALLY? Difference Between Kavach Stotra And Mantra

Difference Between Kavach Stotra And Mantra
Kavach,Stotra and Mantra some vital required information.

Kavachas give you protection. Stotras are basically essence of the vedic

concepts presented in such a way that can be used by everyone without any ritual

taboos. The rigid mantric procedures and guidelines do not apply to stotras.

Kavachas should be chanted with some sort of ritual purity. Actually kavachas

are mandatory before chanting mantra or doing any saadhana A kavach usually comprises of digbandh ( To deactivate 10 directions against negative energy or impact, Viniyog ( A sankalp of taking some water in your palm and releasing the same on completion of verse which tells about rishi, chandh, keelan, utkeelan, bija and shakti of the Kavach. Nayaas ( both angg nayas ( body parts) and karr( Hand ) Nayas.A kavach may comprise of several mantras and bija mantrasWhen intense saadhanas are done, the nervous system may undergo severe strain due to the forceful awakening of the kundalini energy through the nervous system till

brain. This can sometimes cause people to lose their mental balance. Chanting

of kavachas

Generally, one who regularly chants kavacha of deities is protected and will experience miraculous escape during life-threatening circumstances.

Stotra, kavachas and mantras have a common purpose - that of securing the

Grace of Deities to the aspirant. You can chant them at your convenience. But, while chanting kavachas and mantras you

should be more careful with the pronunciations. There might be printing errors

in the works which you should get corrected by experts in your area.

But stotras are not bound by such rigid rules. It is like a child's calling

a close relative....though the child may call without clarity, the elders will

know whom the child is calling....like that even if there is a slight mistake in

chanting simple slokhas and stotras, the side effects will not be severe,

because it is almost like a child addressing its elders in the family. That is

why sages have given stotras out of their kindness for the use of everyone.Mantras are potent Sound syllables that create vibration and resonance, they are used to invoke the deity to seek different desires from power, siddhhis to moksha or final emancipation.Mantras are sounds, syllables, words or groups of words that are repeated with the goal of creating a positive transformation within the personAccording to the vaidika scriptures on Mantra Shastra (Science of Mantras) sublime vibrations of Shabda (eternal sound) and Nada (cosmic vibration) is the originator of everything that exists in nature. It is indeed the source of the omnipresent manifestation of the supreme consciousness - the Para Brahm. Therefore, Shabda and Nada are regarded as the reflections of Brahm. The anahat swar ( the "Unmade Sound, soundless sound, "sound" of the universe, the primal sound of energy itself.) induced by these vibrations is said to be the generator of perpetual energy in the universe. Thus Mantra Yoga maintains that everything in nature, all objects, whether they be animate or inanimate, are composed of sound vibrations. All physical objects are composed of sound and each physical object, be it an insect, a rock, a building, a planet, or a human being, resonates their own particular harmonic note. A KAVACH IS A NECESSITY FOR CREATING THE DESIRED PROTECTIVE AMBIENCE AND ENVIRONMENT FOR SADHAK,INDIVIDUAL OR MANTRIK.

MANTRAS ARE VERY POTENT SOURCE OF ASTRAL ENERGY AND ONLY A FEW OF THEM CAN BE RECITED WITHOUT DUE PROCEDURES RITUALS AND PROTECTION OF KAVACH.SOME EXAMPLES OF EXCEPTION ARE OM, OM NAMO SHIVAYE,OM GANESHAYA NAMAH AND HARE RAMA HARE KRISHNA. ETC.

LORD SHIVA HAD LOCKED LOTS OF MANTRAS DUE THEIR INCESSANT USE BY ASURS ( DEMONS) IN SEEKING BOONS AND POWERS FROM DEITIES, IN CASE OF KEELAT MANTRAS A PROCEDURE OF UTKEELAN( UNLOCKING) IS NECESSARY.MANTRAS REQUIRE SPECIFIC PROCEDURES AND THUS THEY SHOULD NOT BE ADOPTED AND RECITED IN CASUAL WAY.

A mantra has the following six parts:1. It has a rishi who had self-realization for the first time through this mantra, and who gave this mantra to the world. He is the seer for this mantra. Sage Vishwamitra, for example, is the rishi for the Gayatri mantra.

2. The mantra has a metre, which governs the inflection of the voice.

3. The mantra has a particular devata or supernatural being, higher or lower, as its informing power. This devata is the presiding deity of the mantra.

4. The mantra has a bija or seed. The seed is a significant word, or series of words, which gives a special power to the mantra. The bija is the essence of the mantra.

5. Every mantra has a shakti. The shakti is the energy of the form of the mantra, that is, of the vibration forms set up by its sounds. These carry the individual to the devata that is worshipped.

6. The mantra has a kilaka, pillar or pin. This plugs the mantra chaitanya, consciousness, that is hidden in the mantra. As soon as the plug is removed by constant and prolonged repetition of the name, the chaitanya that is hidden is revealed. The devotee gets darshan of the ishta devata.

THE NAME OF A DEITY

The Name of the deity which is to be worshipped. Usually Shri or Om is prefixed to the deity's Name. [Refer 'Prefixing Shri or Om to the Name'.]

THE FAVOUR ASKED FOR

Whatever is to be asked of the deity.

PALLAV (SALUTATION)

Pallav refers to the last or the decorative part of the mantra. Pallav also means to collect, the description of the benefit derived, etc. Often the 'namaha' in a mantra expresses salutation to the deity. That is the pallav. The words in the mantra are also known as pallav.

THE MEANING OF SOME WORDS WHICH APPEAR AT THE END OF A MANTRA: 'Often several words like namaha, svaha, svadha, vashat, voushat, hum and phat are joined to the bijas. These words either depict the mental state of a seeker at the time of chanting the mantra or whatever one wishes to achieve with their usage.

THEIR IMPLIED MEANINGS ARE AS FOLLOWS :

. Namaha : The serene and peaceful state of the antahkaran appeasing the deity of the mantra by surrendering to it.. Svaha : Destruction of harmful energy, for instance curing a disease and doing good to others, appeasing the deity of the mantra with offerings.. Svadha : Self-contentment, strengthening oneself. Vashat : A spiritual emotion of destroying the enemy. Voushat : To create conflicts or opposition among enemies,to acquire power and wealth. Hum : Anger and courage, to frighten one's enemyPhat : A spiritual emotion of attacking the enemy, to drive the enemy awayKILAK

. Kilak means a wedge or a clue to a mystical puzzle. The Guru gives the kilak of the mantra. Consequently the energy of the mantra is manifested. Kilak means the description, proximity, speed and method of pronunciation, the rhythm of recitation of the mantra (alap), etc. Sometimes the kilak assumes the form of a prior notice. When a sage creates a mantra along with a precondition that 'without the pronunciation of a particular word prior to the mantra, the practice of the mantra will not be fruitful', then the mere chanting of the mantra does not prove to be of any avail. Such a word is termed as a kilak of a mantra, that is a wedge or a clue to a mystical puzzle. Only when the mantra is chanted along with it does it prove to be fruitful. Understanding that word, and chanting along with it or destroying the relationship of that word with the mantra is called nishkilan or utkilan. However, only spiritually evolved persons can give guidance to this effect. One comes across 'Shrimat Hanuman kilakam' in Shriramaraksha verse (stotra).

. Movement of the saman vital energy (pranvayu) is essential to activate the kundalini (spiritual energy). Nadibandha (blocking the channels) is performed to achieve it. The energy used to perform nadibandha is also called kilak. Kilak means the expulsion of the saman vital energy from which energy is generated. Nadibandha also occurs if a mantra is chanted appropriately.

Da De Los Muertos Celebrations Gifts To The Living Gifts To The Dead

Da De Los Muertos Celebrations Gifts To The Living Gifts To The Dead
Death is an ever-present part of life, but in Mexico it is embodied by vibrant colors, bright marigold blossoms, papier-m^ach'e skeletons, and sugar skulls during "D`ia de los Muertos", a traditional Mexican holiday now increasingly recognized and celebrated in the U.S. It happens November 1 and 2. Far from being macabre and morbid, this inherently religious holiday - it coincides with the Roman Catholic holidays, All Saints' and All Souls' Days - celebrates the memory of deceased loved ones and is full of warmth and love. The spirits of the dead are welcomed home by family and friends where they are greeted by elaborately decorated home altars dedicated in their honor and offered their favorite foods. Preparation of home altars and graves is an essential part of celebrations. They are cleaned and decorated with marigolds, food, trinkets, and pictures of the dead. These "ofrendas" are considered sacred and are only for the deceased until after the holiday. "Pan de los muertos", or bread of the dead, is a common "ofrenda" on home altars and graves. It is made only once a year for "D`ia de los Muertos" celebrations and is shaped into human figures to represent the dead. While "ofrendas" are reserved only for the dead during the holiday, other objects are made for the living. Skulls and skeletons, called "calaveras", are well-known symbols of D`ia de los Muertos and are used not only as altar and grave decorations, but are given to friends and family during the holiday. The skulls are molded sugar and water confections decorated with colored icing and foil, sometimes with the name of a deceased person written across the top. Skeleton figures and marionettes are made of a variety of materials, including papier-m^ach'e, and can have moving parts. The "calaveras" are exchanged as gifts among the living for enjoyment and humor. Photos above: These colorful male and female "calavera" figurines were made in Mexico City, Mexico, circa 2002, and are now part of the museum's collections. Photo below: Calaveras and sugar skulls adorn an altar constructed by museum staff in celebration of the holiday.

Being Joyful In The Mercies Of God

Being Joyful In The Mercies Of God
"For instance Fortunate IN THE MERCIES OF GOD" By Daisy Cox Sacred BE THE GOD AND Plus OF OUR Lord JESUS CHRIST, THE Plus OF MERCIES AND GOD OF ALL Relieve, WHO COMFORTS US IN ALL OUR Wretchedness SO THAT WE Energy BE Clever TO Relieve Community WHO ARE IN ANY Wretchedness Also THE Relieve Also WHICH WE OURSELVES ARE Thankful BY GOD. FOR Just AS THE SUFFERINGS OF CHRIST ARE OURS IN Abundance, SO Excessively OUR Relieve IS Ample Sooner than CHRIST. BUT IF WE ARE AFFLICTED, IT IS FOR YOUR Relieve AND SALVATION; OR IF WE ARE Thankful, IT IS FOR YOUR Relieve, WHICH IS Brawny IN THE Forgiving Constant OF THE Especially SUFFERINGS WHICH WE Excessively SUFFER; AND OUR Desire FOR YOU IS Brilliantly Grounded, Worldly wise THAT AS YOU ARE SHARERS OF OUR SUFFERINGS, SO Excessively YOU ARE SHARERS OF OUR Relieve." 2 CORINTHIANS 1:3-7 " This lobby is one that we instantly turn to at the same time as we upsurge a friend, that God is the God of all comfort! Positively the word support is hand-me-down 10 grow old in this passage! But one thing we may sometimes miss is how copious grow old the words distress and sufferings are hand-me-down as well. These words are hand-me-down 7 grow old and I can't help but mull over how inextricably cane in these words are. The two are indissoluble, how can we take support and thanks from our God unless we suffer suffered and been afflicted? How can our support in Christ be in opulence unless our sufferings are in opulence as well?"THAT I MAY Know HIM AND THE Import OF HIS New beginning "AND THE FELLOWSHIP OF HIS SUFFERINGS, For instance CONFORMED TO HIS DEATH;"PHILIPPIANS 3:10." The word hand-me-down actually aspect to footing and take five. What we stand facing at our lives and see all that we go via it is close at hand as conversely God carries us elder the chummy line. "GOD HAS Of a nature US Relieve NOT TO BE At ease BUT TO BE COMFORTERS! Charles Spurgeon. Community who suffer endured the album hardships and been thankful by God are limit opulently timely to support others. Charles Spurgeon thought it this way, "GOD COMES In the sphere of OUR Underlying -HE FINDS IT FULL- HE BEGINS TO Perplexed OUR COMFORTS AND TO Trade IT EMPTY; Next Put on IS Senior Cosmos FOR Grace." Perpetual with some spectacular words from Charles Spurgeon I would be keen on to fortune Four reasons why the sufferings of Christ have to swarm in us: First Stare Upward. Next Stare Losing. Next Stare On the subject of YOU. Next Stare In the sphere of YOU. Stare Upward. 'Dost thou see thy calm Plus, a dull and holy such as, unsullied, specifically, perfect? Dost thou know that thou art one day to be be keen on him? Thinkest thou that thou label confidently come to be conformed to his image? Fade away thou not require much fashion work, much grinding in the sharpen of affect, much fissure with the pestle in the shoot down of distress, much such as out of action under the wheels of agony? Thinkest thou it will be an easy thing for thy nucleus to become as dull as God is? Dost thou reflect thou canst so rapidly get rid of thy corruptions, and become height, even as thy Plus which is in paradise is perfect?"Sooner than Plentiful Troubles WE Must Enter THE Kingdom OF GOD. ACTS 14:22"Stare DOWNWARD: Thou wast as soon as a servant of Satan and no king will unhesitatingly lose his subjects. If thou hadst seen Satan the dot thou wast certain, thou wouldst suffer beheld a wondrous occurrence. As rapidly as thou gavest thy nucleus to Christ, Satan summoning his councilors, he thought "Sons of the pit, true heirs of darkness; ye who erst were clad in light, but who crush with me from high dignities, various of my servants has dejected me; I suffer lost various of my family; he is gone elder to the office of the Lord of Hosts. I bid you all hurl all your fiercest darts at him; pester him; have a say him no rest, harrass him to the death; oppress him; the man is a traitor; have a say him no peace; be weak him, weep for him, torment him; for the wretch has turned v me, and become a servant of the Lord." The true Christian treads it underneath his feet. Stare roughly thee my brother; thou label see some good hearts, strong and valiant; thou label see some true souls, sweeping and honest; thou label see some precise lovers of Christ; but I outspoken thee O child of light, that wherever thou meetest one sweeping man, thou label take delivery of twenty hypocrites; wherever thou label find one that will lead thee to paradise, thou label find a trial who would repositioning thee to hell. Thou art in a land of enemies, not of friends. Never comprise the world is good for much. O Christian! the world is not thy friend. If it is, then thou art not God's friend; for he who is the friend of the world is the enemy of God; and he who is unloved of men, is methodically loved of Jehovah. Stare INWARD: But then, stand facing within thee. Put on is a petite world in taking part in, which is moderately plethora to have a say us affect. For one dot, lopsidedly at home the place of thine nucleus, to observation what is stage. Sin is there-original sin and corruption; and what is supervisor, self is subtle within. Ah! if thou hadst no devil to invitation thee, thou wouldest invitation thyself; it stage were no enemies to write off thee, thyself would be thy fundamental foe; if stage were no world, subtle thy self would be bad enough; for "the nucleus is dishonest higher all matter, and uncontrollably naughty.' - "Charles Spurgeon" As we reflect of the sprint that rages and the sources of distress we are consoled and at instruction in the role of we are not in isolation. WE penury reflect of the man who penned these verses, the apostle Paul and his bear out to us these copious time concluding. In Acts 9:16 at the time of Paul's release, the Lord told him that he would suffer to familiarity much for the name of Jesus. At least in all his trials the Lord stood with him with words of support, poor example, and exhortation. Jesus continually stands subsequent to his ethnic group with the promise that He will never haven them or surrender them Matthew 28:20." Sacred Science Part Ii

Sacred Science Part Ii
Consider, for example, the same circle with a dot in its center of the previous post. Using now a more abstract terminology, the dot in the center will represent the Principle, and the circle will represent the World.

It is true that the dot in the center of a circle has been regarded from old as an image of the Sun, which it is in fact, since in a physical sense the Sun is the Center, or "the Heart", of the World; and this is the reason why this figure is even today the astrological sign of the Sun. But against the archaeologists' view which only sees this meaning in it, it actually has a far more vast and profound connotation, as from the viewpoint of all of the ancient traditions, the Sun is but another symbol of the true world center- that is, the Divine Principle.

With this, it becomes clear what the relation between the center and the circumference, or whatever they may represent, is one of subordination from the latter to the former, since the circumference cannot possibly exist without its center, while the center is absolutely independent from the circumference.

Sometimes the dot can be surrounded by several concentric circles, in which case they will represent the various states or degrees of manifestation hierarchically arranged according to their greater or lesser distance from the center.

Such is the case with, for example, the schematic representation of Jambudvipa of the ancient Hindu tradition, which can be said to represent from ancient India to the Earth to the Solar system to our galaxy, all in one. See below for an image and description of it.

In the center of Bhu-mandala is the circular "island" of Jambudvipa, with nine varsha or subdivisions. These include Bharata-varsha, which can be understood in one sense as India and in another as the total area inhabited by human beings. In the center of Jambudvipa stands the cone-shaped Sumeru Mountain, which represents the world axis and is surmounted by the city of Brahma, the universal creator.

Now if the circumference in a circle is represented as traveled in a given direction, it will become the image of a cycle of manifestation such as the ones found in the Hindu tradition and other traditions from both the Old and the New World

Also, if the circumference is connected to the center by radios in the manner of the strokes of a wheel, the relation becomes even more explicit. Such is the case with the quartered circle below - the simplest of them all - or, for that matter, with any circle with any number of radios.

In this case, the divisions will correspond to the different periods or phases into which the cycle is divided and of course, they will belong, according to their particular lengths, to different scales: for example, the four main parts of a day, the four phases of the Moon, the four seasons of the year and also, according to the conceptions found in the traditions from both India and Central America and also in those from the classical Greek and Roman traditions, the four Ages of Mankind.

Additional Notes: Puranic description

[According to Puranic cosmography, the earth is divided into seven concentric island continents (sapta-dvipa vasumati) separated by the seven encircling seas, each double the size of the preceding one. The seven continents of the Puranas are stated as Jambudvipa, Plaksadvipa, Salmalidvipa, Kushadvipa, Krounchadvipa, Shakadvipa, and Pushkaradvipa. These continents are said to be surrounded by seven oceans, consisting respectively of salt-water, sugarcane juice, wine, ghee, curd, milk and water (Agni Purana 108.1-2, Matsya Purana Ch 121-122).

Continent Jambudvipa (Rose Apple Island), also known as Sudarshandvipa, forms the innermost concentric island in the above scheme of Puranic dvipas or continents. Its name is said to derive from Jambu tree (another name for the Rose Apple, a kind of black plum). The fruits of the Jambu tree are said to be as large as elephants and when they become rotten and fall upon the crest of the mountains, a river of juice is formed from their expressed juice. The river so formed is called Jambunadi (Jambu river) which flows through Jambudvipa, whose inhabitants drink its waters. Insular continent Jambudvipa is said to comprise nine varsas or zones and eight mountains.

In Hinduism, the Markandeya Purana portrays Jambudvipa as being depressed on its south and north and elevated and broad in the middle. The elevated region forms the varsa named Illa-vrta (or Meruvarsa). At the center of Illa-Vrta lies the golden Mount Meru, the king of mountains and the support of the planet earth. On the summit of Mount Meru is the vast city of Lord Brahma, known as Brahmapuri. Surrounding Brahmapuri are the cities of Lord Indra and of seven other devatas or demigods.]

But whether the circle represents God, or the world, or time, it is still its Center, and its relation to the circumference, that are essential.

To Hindu scriptures had on its top the so-called Brahma's Paradise at the beginning of the current cycle of Humanity. So Paradise can be said to be situated both inward (if in a circle) and upward (if on a cone).ERQ3FCHKA2WB

MOON IN ARIES - So the moon leaves the watery sign of Pisces early this afternoon and enters the fiery sign of Aries tonight. The Moon in Aries lights a fire under our tails; it wakes us up, strips away our complications and our patience. We can make a fresh start but will tend to shoot from the hip, move fast, argue quickly - remember we are still in Mercury Retrograde and our judgments may be cloudy.

This can be a time to initiate, to speak up, and honor independence. The Moon in Aries asks us to wake and remember who we truly are, even if bothers those we love or work for. Tempers, tears and passions run hot. Moon in Aries is a time of new beginnings, intense activity, pioneering in any field, reaching out with emotional surges, impulsiveness. This moon can be the great tester of the limits. When the moon is in Aries you may want to depend on yourself, as there is also a certain amount of ego involvement. You might feel impatient now or want to initiate new things. Moon in Aries is the best time to work magick involving leadership, authority, rebirth, spiritual conversion or willpower. Healing rituals for ailments of the face, head or brain are also done during this period of time. Those who are born under a Moon in Aries are passionate, honest and fierce, and big-hearted but intensely self-directed. They are happy to loan their fire to inspire others, just don't tell them what to do.

TIU'S DAY - Mars Day - the Day of Activity and Physicality, Passion and Desire - Action Day....

DEVELOPING THE SENSES - "In order to develop our sixth sense we first need to maximize and balance the use of the other 5: sight, smell, taste, touch and hearing... "

Our senses are constantly bombarded by sights, sounds, and smells which can lead to confusion, if not actual overload. To test this for yourself, sit quietly and listen. What can you hear? You will probably start to identify many sounds; perhaps passing traffic, people in the distance, aircraft passing overhead, and the wind in the trees. Underlying this you may also detect the hum of the refrigerator, the tick of a clock and other sounds.

To understand and improve our senses it is often best to try limiting the amount of input they receive. As sight is, for humans, the dominant sense, try closing your eyes to allow you to focus on another. Close your eyes and listen, and after a few minutes you will find that you are hearing sounds you would otherwise have missed. Take a selection of items, perhaps flowers or herbs, close you eyes and spend a few minutes smelling each; you will find that there is a greater depth to the scents. This is especially useful when choosing ingredients for incense. Do likewise with things you can taste and with different textures to examine the sense of feeling. Sight can often be enhanced by blocking off hearing, so try watching people at a distance to see what you can learn about them. If you practice really using each of your 5 senses regularly you will soon find that your sixth sense is enhanced.

Knowing The Good Is Not Enough

Knowing The Good Is Not Enough
This year is the 200th anniversary of Kierkegaard's birth and consequently his thought is getting more attention than usual outside scholarly circles. Here, from "The gospel according to Kierkegaard: Sin, guilt and the offense of forgiveness," how Socrates got it wrong through no fault of his own:.... Many atheists today claim that Christianity is "offensive" in some way or another. Kierkegaard would say this is quite in order - Christianity is offensive and must be so in order to remain what it is. The offensive aspect of the difference God makes to goodness is one that Kierkegaard thought Socrates missed, as he believed anyone without the benefit of revelation would have done, no matter how wise they were in other respects.

"One area where Socrates and all human reasoning that carries on its work without the benefit of revelation falls short is in accounting for why people are so often not good. For Socrates all evils are simply the result of ignorance of what is truly good. If people only knew" what was just, Socrates reasoned, they would automatically "do" what was just.....

So the really interesting question to Kierkegaard would not be whether people can be good without God, but a twofold problem of "how" to explain why so often they are not good, with or without God, and "what" to do about that failure. That they will fail to be good is a reality to which all parties must concede. Take the most depleted moral code you care to posit, set the bar as low as you like, and the universal experience of all human beings, from the most morally ambitious to the most scandalously indolent, is failure.

No one is as "moral" - regardless of how they define being moral - as they aim to be.....

For Kierkegaard, the first article of Christian faith as opposed to pagan philosophy is not the reality of salvation but "sin", which logically has to come first as that from which we stand in need of salvation itself. And for him sin meant wilfulness, of a kind and to a degree that even the great Socrates would never have imagined possible. Religious revelation shows us, Kierkegaard thought, that, while it is certainly the case that people can be good with and without God, with shocking frequency they are not good, and they are not good not because they simply lack knowledge of what is good but because they don't "want to be good".

Socrates could never have believed that people were capable of knowing the good and simply refusing to do it. Kierkegaard, on the other hand, thought that the Christian tradition taught that all too often people do what is bad "because" it is bad. If you are as convinced as he was that perverse, wilful evil is not only possible but commonplace, then Socrates's view is bound to appear dangerously naive. It is also a view that you could predict human beings would come up with to suit themselves; the Socratic view can be perceived as conveniently self-exculpatory: No one is "that" bad, just a bit confused.

This is one reason Kierkegaard thought the idea of sin had to be revealed. Nobody spontaneously thinks to himself "I really am a lousy jerk" even if he is a lousy jerk. It takes a God to tell us that we are lousy jerks, not because we are not lousy jerks and God is around just to make us all feel bad about ourselves, but precisely because we are lousy jerks, and lousy jerks are the last people who will recognize themselves to be lousy jerks without someone to tell them they are..... The Nemesea August 23Rd
IN ANCIENT GREECE, THE "DAY OF THE NEMESEA," A SOLEMNITY IN MEMORY OF DECEASED PERSONS WAS CELEBRATED ON THIS DATE. THE FESTIVAL HONORED THE GODDESS" NEMESIS", WHO DEFENDED RELICS AND THE MEMORY OF THE DEAD FROM INSULT AND INJURY. HER NAME MAY BE TRANSLATED TO" 'SHE WHO DISTRIBUTES OR DEALS OUT'" OR DIVINE VENGEANCE. "NEMESIS" WAS BOTH FEARED AND REVERED. She was an avenging goddess executing the righteous anger of the gods.

IN GREEK AND ROMAN MYTHOLOGY, "NEMESIS" WAS THE GODDESS OF RETRIBUTION. SHE IS A PRIMORDIAL DEITY WHO EMERGED FROM "CHAOS", THE PERSONIFICATION OF DIVINE JUSTICE. SHE REPRESENTS THAT POWER WHICH ADJUSTS THE BALANCE OF HUMAN AFFAIRS, BY AWARDING TO EACH INDIVIDUAL THE FATE WHICH HIS ACTIONS DESERVE SHE WAS THE GODDESS OF VENGEANCE, ALWAYS PREPARED TO PUNISH IMPIETY. SHE IS THE FORCE OF KARMA. "NEMESIS "IS USUALLY DEPICTED AS HOLDING A WHIP IN ONE HAND, AND A PAIR OF SCALES IN THE OTHER.

This Regards Any Parent Who Claims To Be Christian And Yet Enrages Their Offspring

This Regards Any Parent Who Claims To Be Christian And Yet Enrages Their Offspring
"And you fathers, don't provoke your children to wrath..."

St. Paul the Apostle wrote that decree, not once, but instead TWICE, in two separate epistles (both the epistle to the Ephesians and the epistle to the Colossians).

"don't provoke your offspring/children to wrath, but raise them in the nurture and the admonition of the Lord"

(to the Ephesians)

This seems to imply that provoking one's offspring to wrath is NOT of God.

Also:

"You fathers, don't provoke your offspring/children to wrath, lest they be (strongly) discouraged (lose hope)"

(to the Colossians)

This seems to mean that three things, that both (1) to provoke offspring to wrath is repugnant to Christian teachings, both in and of itself, and also because (2) it is the sort of emotional torture that causes despair/discouragement, and (3) such despair/discouragement is definitely NOT of God in Christ.

What does this all mean? Well, if your parents, especially your father, professes to be a "Christian", then he has no business to verbally, physically, or in any other ways torment you!

I say this because I'm frankly tired of so-called "Christian" parents who prance around thumping the Bible or claiming to have the Holy Spirit/Holy Ghost, or whatnot, and then go acting like the Devil towards their offspring of any age! Evil Christians must be stopped!

Also, you do not need to be a believer to claim your rights as the offspring to any Christian parents: if your parents, especially your father, profess to be Christian, then they have the Scriptural obligation, as written TWICE by St. Paul, to always be decent towards you.

Now, don't rebuke them or bring up the subject of their despicable behavior, but do tell people until somebody defends you against evil parents. Instead, consider telling their pastors -- and if the pastors refuse to help you, then probably their so-called "Christian" church is in the wrong and those "Christian" people are no better than some sort of heretical cult who deserve nothing short of your contempt.

I'm also tempted to suggest that you web-search the subject of parental behavior, at least in the more extreme cases of parental malfeasance. Some websites, such as some psych websites, do seem to understand when parents are acting intolerably nasty, although I don't always agree with the suggested "cure" for impossible parents. But do feel free to explore, anyway. Good luck.

The Hunger Moon Of February

The Hunger Moon Of February
This month's moon usually makes its appearance when it is icy cold in the north. This year for some reason, the night was mild, clouding up a little later and raining through the darkness and on into early morning.

For me, this full moon has to be the Owl Moon, for the great birds are nesting now, and I know of at least one nest (or nursery) in an old oak tree near the beaver pond at the back of the Two Hundred Acre Wood. Around this time every year, the The Saw-whet Owl (or sugar bird) is courting, and many other northern owls are caught up in the same timeless seasonal rituals of bonding and parenting. In February, love, fertility and the perpetuation of one's genetic materials are in the air. The same is true for northern woodpeckers, particularly the Hairy.

Here we are again, looking morosely at the size of our wood piles, surveying the contents of our freezers, counting the sealers in our larders and hoping that there will be enough to last us until springtime arrives. If we can hang on for a few more weeks, the full moon of March promises relief and sweetness too, for the splendid wild alchemy of the maple syrup season will be in full swing when the next full moon makes its appearance, and (hallelujah) the geese will on their way home.

Last year at this time, I mentioned a favorite book of recipes and seasonal customs, and it seems both prudent and appropriate to do so again this year as I am rereading it. For a fine trove of moon lore and thoughtful observations about the ways in which humanity have traditionally hunted, gathered, cooked and "put things by" for the long nights, read Jessica Prentice's Full Moon Feasts. Her book, subtitled "Food and the Hunger for Connection", follows the thirteen moons of an agricultural year, beginning with this month's Hunger Moon. Each of the thirteen chapters contains recipes which are in tune with the timeless rhythms of the season.

We also know this moon as the: Ash Moon, Big Winter Moon, Bone Moon, Bony Moon, Budding Moon, Chestnuts Moon, Cold Winds Moon, Coyotes Frighten Moon, Crow Moon, Dark Red Calves Moon, Death Moon, Eagle Moon, Fish Running Moon, Frost Sparkling in the Sun Moon, Gray Moon, Horning Moon, Ice in River Is Gone Moon, Ice Moon, Index Finger Moon, Little Bud Moon, Long Dry Moon, Makes Branches Fall in Pieces Moon, Mimosa Moon, Moon of Ice, Moon of Purification and Renewal, Moon of Rabbit Conception, Moon of the Cedar Dust Wind, Moon of the Raccoon, Moon of the Frog, Moon When Geese Come Home, Moon When Bear Cubs are Born, Moon When Spruce Tips Fall, Moon When Trees Pop, Moon When Trees Are Bare and Vegetation Is Scarce, Narcissus Moon, No Snow in Trails Moon, Owl Moon, Peach Blossom Moon, Pink Moon, Plum Blossom Moon, Primrose Moon, Quickening Moon, Raccoon Moon, Rain and Dancing Moon, Red and Cleansing Moon, Second Moon, Snow Crust Moon, Snow Moon, Solmonath (Sun Moon), Squint Rock Moon, Staying Home Moon, Storing Moon, Storm Moon, Sucker Fish Moon, Sucker Moon, Trapper's Moon., Treacherous Moon, Violet Moon, Wexes Moon, Wild Moon, Wind Moon, Wind Tossed Moon, Winter Moon

The photo looks much better when viewed in its larger size, and a simple click on it will get you there.

Floristas To Follow On Instagram

Floristas To Follow On Instagram
I am a shameless lover of flower photos. I have to stop myself from constantly uploading and re-gramming photos of giant peonies, fresh bouquets of ranunculus and just about EVERY spring branch that's blooming in the world right now through my #atlasshrink hansh tag on my Instagram right now. "See! Spring! We finally made it!"Thankfully there are plenty of people whose jobs involve sharing beautiful floral work online, because they are actual florists, not "wish-they-were-florists", like me. Aside from new homes to feature, I've found Instagram the most helpful in discovering new florists across the globe. From Ruby Barber of Mary Lennox in Germany to Euphoric Flowers in the UK, my favorite floral feeds are not only a wealth of flower inspiration, but perfect for coming up with color palette, entertaining and pattern ideas. I've found some of my favorite paint ideas from floral photos and come up with great concepts for making arrangements at home. So whether you're looking to get practical advice and tips or just want to sift through hours of pretty garden roses, these are the feeds for you. Thanks so much to all of these Instagrammers for inspiring us online.

Click through for all 14 floral Instagrammers after the jump!

Jo Flowers: I love this feed for all of its romantic, moody and cascading arrangements. Jo is based in England and often posts photos from her own backyard that are just as impressive as any arrangement.

Amy Merrick: Amy Merrick is probably my favorite florist to follow. Not only does she know her way around a dramatic arrangement, but she travels to some of the most beautiful places and installs not just flowers, but trees, centerpieces and other plants that give me such great ideas for my own home. Amy has a beautiful way with photography, too, so she's definitely one to follow.

Saipua: I feel strongly that Sarah Ryhanen's floral business is responsible for an entire generation of new florists we see working in a more organic style now. Working in the tradition of florists like Constance Spry and the Madderlakes, Sarah lit the fire for so many people who've gone on to open their own businesses. I love Sarah's feed not just for its flowers, but for its peek inside the daily life of Sarah and Eric, who bought and now operate a farm in upstate New York that is home to some beautiful animals and fresh flowers.

Mary Lennox (Ruby Barber): I discovered Mary Lennox through Sarah at Saipua and have loved watching her work evolve online. The vibrant pinks and yellows in her feed always leave me wanting more and make me want to spend more time photographing the delicate underside of petals.

Studio Choo: The incredibly talented, West Coast-based Studio Choo team are also former D*S team members and they've gone on to do SUCH amazing things. From watching their book come together to getting glimpses of their flower buying trips, the Studio Choo feed is one of my favorite places to look for finished arrangement and centerpiece ideas.

Euphoric Flowers: I've noticed that floral designers in the UK seem to have a distinct aesthetic of their own, very different from the looseness we see a lot of right now. But there's a place for every look and a beauty in every style, and this feed is no exception. I love the lush archways Euphoric Flowers posts - they make me wish I suddenly lived in a castle with roses growing up every wall.

Tulipina Design: Kiana Underwood's feed (and business) is based in San Francisco and her photos ooze that sort of upbeat, sunny, super-colorful California charm.

Lizzy McGinn: Lizzy collaborates with Cathy Haebe of kneadtomake and I love seeing the way she combines lush florals with baked goods. How could that "ever" go wrong?

Fairynuffflowers: Another UK feed - this is one of my go-to stops for GIANT close-ups of flowers. If you love a close-up shot of a peony as much as I do (they're full of so many petals!), this is one to check out.

Victory Blooms: This Marietta, Georgia-based floral studio is run by Megan Dunlap. She's regularly featured on some of the top wedding blogs and what I love most is that she posts some pretty stunning flowers that aren't too wedding-centric. She's shared some truly elegant photos of wisteria, dogwood and vines that feel wonderfully moody and romantic.

Floradelphia: Dan Fingerhut's feed is upbeat, fun and full of colorful arrangements. He plays around with some fun and inventive vases and vessels and it's always a blast to see what he's up to.

Pretty Streets: I discovered Kristen of Pretty Streets through the delivery grocery service Good Eggs. She posts several flower shots a day that are simple and slightly wistful. I never mind that when it comes to beautiful, drapey arrangements, they make me long for days spent inside with buckets of flowers to arrange.

Moon Canyon: Kristen Cassie's feed focuses on plants and gardens along with flowers. I love her floral headdresses, ombre-themed arrangements and the way she focuses on vines and flowering plants as much as cut flowers.

Nicolette Camille: My love for Nicolette Camille's flower arrangements has been well documented. She is the queen of a romantic bouquet. I love the way she captures interiors, too. Her feed is a great guide to romantic spaces for weddings and special events.

*HONORABLE MENTION: Flowers of Visalia: This feed isn't a floral shop, but is dedicated to GORGEOUS flower photos taken in Visalia, California and neighboring Central California cities. I am constantly liking every picture in this feed and re-gramming them to sing their praises.
