Wicca is a modern pagan, witchcraft religion

Wicca is a diverse religion with no central authority or figure defining it.

Wicca often involves the ritual practice of magic, though it is not always necessary

Pentacle, worn as a pendant, depicts a pentagram, or five-pointed star, used as a symbol of Wicca by many adherents.

Beliefs in Wicca range from hard polytheism to even monotheism.

Wicca is typically duotheistic, worshipping a god and goddess traditionally viewed as a mother goddess and horned god.

The term Wicca first achieved widespread acceptance when referring to the religion in the 1960s and 70s

Application of the word Wicca has given rise to "a great deal of disagreement and infighting".

The Goddess and the God may be regarded as the Divine Feminine and the Divine Masculine

The God and Goddess are generally seen as lovers and equals, the Divine Couple who together co-create the cosmos.

Traditionally the God is viewed as a Horned God, associated with nature, wilderness, sexuality, hunting and the life cycle

The Horned God is given various names according to the tradition, and these include Cernunnos, Pan, Atho and Karnayna.

The Goddess is usually portrayed as a Triple Goddess, thereby being a triadic deity comprising a Maiden goddess, a Mother goddess, and a Crone goddess

Some Wiccans, particularly from the 1970s onwards, have viewed the Goddess as the more important of the two deities, who is pre-eminent in that she contains and conceives all. In this respect, the God is viewed as the spark of life and inspiration within her, simultaneously her lover and her child.

Sorcerous Books Reviews

Sorcerous Books Reviews
"Since the focus of this blog is Druidic occultism, we will occasionally (EVEN FREQUENTLY) be looking at the 'occult"' portion of that equation. For those waiting for something Celtic, I have another review on the way directly. These short reviews cover three small books that I have read lately in an effort to examine modern streams of magical, Pagan and witchcraft practice. Lately I've been getting small press items from the UK, where a nice ferment of occult ingredients seems to be cooking. All three are from small occult presses, all three nicely produced small volumes, two paper, and one handbound in boards. All three either are themselves, or relate to the tradition of grimoires and magic books. The first is itself a translated grimoire, the second concerns folkloric "WITCHCRAFT" and it's Pagan connections, and the third takes us on an excursion into much stranger spheres, based on one of the most rumored and buzzed-about neo-grimoires of the end of the last century. We'll begin with the most scholastic and work our way along.

A Collection of Magical Secrets, etc., A CORNISH BOOK OF WAYS Gemma Gary, Troy Books, 2008 isbn 978-0-9561043-0-4

This is one of a number of books I've read that claims to represent a tradition of Pagan Witchcraft older and '"more authentic"' than that of Gardner and his Wiccan inheritors. In this case the system of witchcraft presented draws on Cornish countryside spirit lore, folkloric spellcraft and remnants of the cunning-folk traditions to construct a modern form. An interesting thing about this system is that it attempts to provide a Pagan context inside which a folkloric magical tradition could operate.

The author describes a devotion to a nature-power, androgynous, summer-winter sort of goat or stag spirit, the Bucca (WHICH MEANS, ROUGHLY, "GOAT" in Celtic languages.). Along with this cross-roads deity the system focuses on the spirits of the Dead in the land and in the Otherworld, which are identified with the '"pisgies"' of Cornish lore. The book provides outlines and some spoken text for rites of worship that have a nicely Pagan feel to them, including an emphasis on the witch's hearth as a key magical center. The central rite of '"worship"' is essentially a sacrificial feast in which bread and mead are shared with the spirits. Throughout this material there's a kind of imagined countryside devil-worship - as long as we remember that the Devil is really the Bucca. Aesthetically it treads a line between homespun and gothic.

The author makes an effort to associate this '"Traditional Witchcraft"' or '"cunning craft"' with the practices of famous Cornish cunning folks and reputed witches. She drops the names of undoubtedly historical modern figures, and freely uses the term cunning folk interchangeably with '"witches"'. This is where the scholasticism of the book breaks down, in my opinion, and becomes the very same sort of Neopagan romanticism we all know and love. What we're seeing here seems, to me, very unlikely to be an actual remnant of folk paganism from the 18th and 19th centuries, but rather a nicely done reconstruction. The author (OR HER GROUP - SHE'S PART OF A CIRCLE WORKING THE SYSTEM, IT SEEMS) has done a good job of cobbling bits of folklore into workable rites - a skill I admire.

More than half the book is taken up with its grimoire, which is plainly based on the same sort of cunning-person's Book of Secrets that we see in the above review. The author is interested in herbs and oils, and gives extensive recipes for incenses and various anointing oils. There is an effort made to devise a system of categories for magical intention (OR 'ENERGIES') and support them with corresponding substances - so we find Toad Smoke and Hare Smoke recipes along with Serpent and Crow. There is a system of making talismans in the form of '"sachets"', small, square-sewn packets, and the usual variety of practical spells for love, healing, protection, turning away ill and cursing. The spells are influenced by the same literary tradition that produces the Book of Secrets - countryside lore mixed with elements of scholastic magical traditions. They retain the seven planets symbol system, and give planetary number-squares and sigils for each, derived from scholastic magic. However where an 18th century system would have called on angels and demons of late Judeo-Christian provenance, this grimoire offers spirit communication with the '"piskies"' - the crowd of the Dead - instead.

The book concludes with chapters on group worship rites. Full Moon and New Moon rites are described (THOUGH NOT SCRIPTED). The seasonal ritual days are the four Celtic feasts along with the solstices, the equinoxes having no customs given. These days are given their Cornish folk names but are quite recognizable as the modern Pagan holy days.

All in all a good effort, with a lot of workable material for a solitary Pagan magic user. I remain bemused at the effort to turn the '"cunning-man"' into the '"witch"', but I understand the impulse. Incidentally also a pretty and romantic treatment for this book - I love it when magical authors illustrate their own ideas.

Voudon Gnosis David Beth, Scarlet Imprint, 2008

Hang on to your wangas, now we're going somewhere different. Where the first two books are themselves grimoires, instructions for personal magical practice, this small book is instead a comment on a much larger modern grimoire. The Voudon Gnostic Workbook, by Michael Bertiaux, is a book with a lot of buzz among Thelemites and chaos magicians. It's a huge book that takes the reader on a labyrinthine journey, starting with being a Big Lucky Hoodoo and ending up somewhere-weird of Atlantis. In fact Atlantis plays a big part in its mythology, along with Zothyrius, Lemuria and Lovecraft's Yuggoth. It may have been the Lovecraftian element in Bertiaux's work that attracted Kenneth Grant, who profiled him in Cults of the Shadow. One of the most notable characteristics of the VGW is its impenetrability to casual study. This small book, Voudon Gnosis, is by one of the only other occultists to write on the system, a student of Bertiaux. It attempts to offer an eighty-page introduction to some of the book's key ideas and practices. It rather succeeds, but the author admits at the outset that the VGW material is "...ABSTRACT AND VERY COMPLEX", and so it really only succeeds so well. I bought this book on the recommendation of a review of it by Freya Aswynn, who suggested that is was relevant to any magician interested in working with the spirits. I don't disagree. Within the delightful gobbledeguk of the occultism is a serious approach not only to working with the spirits, but to empowering the individual and enabling wild explorations of little-known spiritual spaces. The VGW system is based somewhat on Haitian Voudon, and some of the terminology is retained. The Prise des Yeux - divine vision or second sight, the points chauds - hot points, which are conceptually related to the chakras and marmas of eastern systems and the use of spirit bottles and fetishes all have roots in traditional Voudon. From that basis the system appears to intend to create a system of mysticism that allows the student to transcend common reality and construct their own magical universe in which to dwell. That's the gnostic part of Voudon Gnosis. Along the way the system intends to produce magical '"powers"' of the usual sort. I bought this micro-press item because I decided I'd start actually getting some of this good stuff before it only was available as a rare book. It's a very nice hardback edition with embossed cover, but quite slim. I thank Scarlet Imprint for not making the price ridiculous, even with overseas shipping. Is this book worthwhile for students of a northern occultism? It could be, but it will be of far more use to experienced practitioners with multi-cultural sensibilities. The material on fetishes (UMMM, THAT IS, EMPOWERED IMAGES...), on body-based mysticism and on work with the Dead could all be instructive, though the complex mythologies of the system make even this simplified introduction pretty opaque.

How To Protect Yourself Against Ancestral Problems

How To Protect Yourself Against Ancestral Problems
What can I do to protect myself against ancestral problems?Problems caused due to departed ancestors are a specific type of spiritual difficulty. Therefore we can successfully overcome them only by applying a specific spiritual remedy. Psychological and physical remedies simply cannot overcome the root cause of the problem and can only provide some symptomatic relief, at best. For example, if a person is suffering from a skin rash caused by ancestors, relevant medical treatment can at best provide relief but it cannot cure the rash completely or prevent it from occurring again. In order to gain insulation from problems caused due to departed ancestors, we recommend chanting the protective chant of '"Sri Gurudev Datta"'. This chant represents the Name of Deity Datta, an aspect of God. This is to be done daily along with chanting the Name of God according to the religion of one's birth.Chanting of Deity Datta's Name is a kind of prescription chant to overcome a specific spiritual problem i.e. problems caused due to departed ancestors. On the other hand, chanting the Name of God according to the religion of one's birth acts as a general spiritual tonic for overall spiritual growth. Chanting of Deity Datta's Name provides protection, but not spiritual growth. To give you an analogy, chanting Deity Datta's Name is like having an extra dose of Vitamin C when one has a common cold. The Vitamin C is taken along with the usual multi-vitamin tablet taken for good health (which is the Name according to the religion of birth). When we repeat the protective chant of "'Sri Gurudev Datta'", we attract the divine energy associated with Datta's Name and as a result we benefit in the following ways: * A subtle protective sheath envelops us, protecting us from obstacles caused by our ancestors. * It helps to nullify the give-and-take account that we have with our ancestors thus reducing their influence on us. * It gives our ancestors the assistance they require to make their onward journey in the subtle world. However, the extent of benefit depends on the quantity and quality of our chanting, which besides other factors, depends on our spiritual level. It is recommended that one chants the protective chant of '"Sri Gurudev Datta"' on a daily basis depending on the severity of the distress. As it is a prescription chant that helps to remove obstacles in one's life, it is best if it is done in the morning as it then provides the requisite spiritual protection for the day. One can then chant the Name of God according to the religion of birth during the rest of the day.We recommend the quantity of chanting "'Sri Gurudev Datta"'"' that is commensurate with the severity of the distress experienced due to ancestral problems. It is based on spiritual research and Knowledge gained by accessing the Universal Mind and Intellect through the medium of a highly advanced sixth sense (ESP). * In case where no distress to mild distress is experienced, one can chant for 1 to 2 hours every day in order to avoid such trouble in future. * In case where the distress is medium, chant for 2 to 4 hours every day. * If the distress is severe one must chant "'Sri Gurudev Datta"' for 4 to 6 hours per day.NOTE: The above quantity of recommended chanting has been increased recently. The increased duration of chanting has been recommended taking into account the rise in trouble caused by ancestors and negative energies in the current and in the coming times. Please read the article, 'What are ancestral problems' to understand the types of distress or problems that can happen due to our departed ancestors. The following are some indicators of the severity of distress Type Example Mild Skin problems, marital conflicts Moderate Divorce, mentally challenged child Severe Miscarriage, death in childhoodNOTE: If the difficulties are severe, then one could also be advised to perform specific spiritual rituals. Information regarding these will be published in later articles. Related Links

Saturday
OfferingsOne of the items Jason mentioned in his talk, is the need for offerings to the local spirits. Ceremonial Magicians, he argued, are fine dealing with spirits in grimories but not so much with the unknown local spirits. The formers' have known attributes and the latter do not. His argument translated to my mind as, "So why not get to know their attributes? Why not work with them and get to know them?" This thought has been nagging at me. But it isn't a thought that was being generated from within. I perceived the thought to be emanating from my temple space towards me. Today, I heeded the call. I generated some energy in the simply way Jason uses for such things and gave the energy to the spirits of the temple. I repeated the process over and over giving energy to the house and local spirits and to the Universe. When I did the local spirit offering I was amazed at how large the cloud of energy became. Given the desert climate and the time of the year, it was not sup rising to see sylphs feeding on it. This is my first time making such an offering. I must admit and immediate feeling of connection and peace. I plan to do the same for the spirits of my work place on a daily basis as well. More WorkSaturday's work required a follow-up. If you're going to batter down some walls, it is always a good idea to strength your own. Today, I did so in the day and hour of the sun. Long and well have I been trained to keep a close watch for messages of the lower ego. Those messages that inflate your self-worth out of all proporation are as dangerous as those negative messages that batter one's self-esteem. In today's work, I performed the middle pillar. As I've mentioned in notes of late, Keter has been behaving oddly. Today, at the first vibration, a crown appeared at my head, grew stronger with each vibration and remained throughout the rite. Once the item was charged, I was instructed to meditate on the Queen of Wands. The Queen was explained to me by the Enochians as restrained fire, "Greater than fire" were the words used or something similar. During such, I was told that in silence is my strength, not in my words. Be silent and unmoving, a rock. Later in the day, I went for a walk. A twenty-something young man stuck his head out the window and said, "I love you." I have no idea who this was. Did it have anything to do with the crown earlier? No clue.Even later, I delivered the spell worked on Saturday.

Willful Creation

Willful Creation
Disdainful and in addition of my magickal practices are having the status of scrupulous by my interpretation of the Three of Wands. The wands are continually about some conscript of creative force. The threes come to pass in the qabalistic world of Atziluth, the creative aircraft, the realm of gods and the One, Logos or at all you require to support it. Actual, I view the One as a bit more back specially even our gross conception of this world but that is unique rant entirely. The threes come to pass in Binah, the sephira of Saturn, time, stop, form. Binah is exceedingly the seat of the Insignificant Neschemah, that part of us that is connected to all bits and pieces. The petty Neschemah is part of our perpetual heart as well, sometimes called the Arrogant Neschemah. This makes the 3 of Wands the Inventive part of the heart efficiently personal inside a form and temporal space and suitably fitting to our incarnative hint. Yes, I barely ready up the word incarnative. Indulgent with it. Restricted this definition, I basic live within that clandestine space or fight for it. As a friend and I were discussing, it is breathtaking how disconnection such stop can be.The esoteric name of the Three of Wands is the Lady of Virtue. These concept are now having the status of cumulative with the concept from the Magus of Strovolos. He thought that in our lives we invent elementals. Live in elementals are our matching disapprove. Horizontal in arrears we become fully grown further than them, group elementals are live, hunt to realm living and do meddle our lives in a literal relevance to chance. They do this until we overact off their energy and relations to ourselves. This arrangement resonated with me.I squeeze begun by design choosing which elementals to invent as I begin my day. Friendship, love, charity, merriment and the adjoining. I invent them in my nucleus, supplement them to my ghost and ask them to emanate themselves into my broadcasting with others. I really don't exactness whom they go to or to the same extent for two reasons. The cap is that I didn't go on everywhere my critical elementals went. Secondly, if one is perpendicular giving out silence, love, charity and merriment, it seems writing table moneyed to go on who gets to stand them. Releasing such bits and pieces prerequisite be done in a unselfish relevance.

Horoscop Rac 2013

Horoscop Rac 2013

Dintr-o alta perspectiva, Saturn iti poate cere sa iti redefinesti felul cum iti exprimi creativitatea,sa iti pui intrebari despre utilizarea eficienta a talentelor tell si despre sinceritatea sentimentelor tell in iubire. Uneori, acest aspect astral da nastere unor amanari in logodne si casatorii, sau unor dificultati in mariaje.

Nu forta nota in nici un fel. Daca impingi lucrurile prea departe in orice domeniu al existentei, esti pandit de ghinioane. Niste vesti neasteptate sau schimbari bruste de planuri iti pot da peste cap increderea in thorn insuti.

Din 20 septembrie 2013, gratie revenirii lui Pluton in tranzit attend to in Capricorn si a saptea ta casa, relatiile cu oamenii apropiati castiga in stabilitate si armonie. Schimbarile continua sa se faca simtite in dragoste, insa par a lua, de aceasta keep information, a lua o turnura pozitiva. Este o perioada norocoasa pentru casatorii.

Buddhist Meditation

Buddhist Meditation
A good dharma lesson from Ajahn Brahm at Tricycle Magazine.STEPPING TOWARDS ENLIGHTENMENT How deep can your meditation go? Thai forest monk Ajahn Brahm traces the path from mindfulness to profound meditative states through the sixteen steps of anapanasati. By Ajahn Brahm THE ESSENCE OF BUDDHISM is the enlightenment of the Buddha. Many centuries ago in India, the wandering monk Gautama remembered a childhood experience of "jhana," mental or meditative absorption, and realized that jhana is the way to awakening. He went to a quiet stretch of forest on the banks of a great river, sat on a cushion of grass under a shady fig tree, and meditated. The method of meditation that he used is called "anapanasati," mindfulness of the in and out breaths. Through this practice, he entered jhana, emerged, and quickly gained the insights of enlightenment. Henceforth he was called the Buddha, the Awakened One. The Buddha continued to teach anapanasati for the remainder of his life. It was the method that had given him enlightenment, the meditation practice par excellence, and he imparted that same method to all his disciples both in the monastery and in the city. This foremost method of meditation is bequeathed to us today in the original Buddhist texts as part of many suttas, but most notably the "Anapanasati Sutta." The Buddha described the practice of anapanasati as consisting of preliminary preparations followed by sixteen steps. The first twelve of those steps are instructions for entering jhana, and the final four steps are instructions on what to do when you emerge. Before giving instructions for experiencing the bliss and beauty of jhana, I will briefly cover the preliminary stages of meditation. If you pass through these initial stages too quickly, you may find that the preparatory work has not been completed. It's like trying to build a house on a makeshift foundation-the structure goes up very quickly, but it may come down too soon! You would be wise to spend a lot of time making the groundwork and foundations solid. Then, when you proceed to the higher stories-the ecstatic states of meditation-they will be stable. Foremost, the Buddha said, go to a quiet place where you will not be disturbed by people, sounds, or things like mosquitoes. Tough guys might want to meditate in mosquito-ridden jungles or in the middle of tiger paths, but this is more likely to build only endurance and not the ease of jhana. The Buddha instead praised pleasant places like orchards or parks similar to Bodh Gaya, where he gained enlightenment. Next, sit on a comfortable seat. You may sit on a cushion, on a bench, or even on a chair as long as it isn't too comfortable. The comfort required for success in breath meditation is that level where your body can be at ease for long periods of time and also alert. You are now asked to set up mindfulness "in front of you," to give it priority. We establish this preliminary level of mindfulness by practicing present-moment awareness (giving up the baggage of past and future) and then silent present-moment awareness (refining your practice of being with every experience as it happens to the level where you do not have the space for inner speech). When you let go of the past, you will be free in the present moment. As for the future-the anticipations, fears, plans, and expectations-let that go too. Now you should proceed to the even more beautiful and truthful silence of the mind. A useful technique for developing inner silence is recognizing the space between thoughts. Attend closely with sharp mindfulness when one thought ends and before another begins-"there!" That is silent awareness! It may be only momentary at first, but as you recognize that fleeting silence, you become accustomed to it; the silence lasts longer. You begin to enjoy the silence and that is why it grows. But remember, silence is shy. If silence hears you talking about her, she vanishes immediately. The mind can do wonderful and unexpected things. Meditators who are having a difficult time achieving a peaceful state of mind sometimes start thinking, "Here we go again, another hour of frustration." But often something strange happens; although they are anticipating failure, they reach a very peaceful meditative state. My first meditation teacher told me that there is no such thing as a bad meditation. He was right. During the difficult meditations you build up your strength, which creates meditation for peace. We may want to spend much time-months or even years-developing just these first two preliminary stages, because if we can reach this point, we have come a long way indeed in our meditation. In that silent awareness of "just now," we experience much peace, joy, and consequent wisdom. WHEN YOU ARE SILENTLY AWARE of whatever it is that is happening right now, in front of your mind, then you have established the level of mindfulness required to begin progressing along the sixteen steps of anapanasati. In steps one and two the Buddha says to first experience long breaths and then experience short breaths. You do not need to control your breathing to fulfill the instructions; this will only produce discomfort. Instead, you are meant to simply observe the breath long enough to know whether it is long or short, or, as some practitioners note, deep or shallow, rough or smooth. This gives you more to look at, makes mindfulness of breathing more interesting so that you do not get bored. The third step is experiencing the whole process of breathing. This is where your mindfulness increases its agility sufficient to observe every sensation involved in the process of breathing. You are aware of the in-breath from the very start when it arises out of the stillness. You see the sensations of in-breathing evolve in every moment, reaching its peak and then gradually fading away until it has completely subsided. You have such a degree of clarity that you even see the space, the pause between the in-breath and the next out-breath. Your mind has the attentiveness of a cat waiting for a mouse, as you wait for the next out-breath to begin. Then you observe the first stirrings of the out-breathing. You watch its sensations evolve, changing with every moment, until it, too, reaches a peak and then enters into its decline before fading into nothingness again. Then you observe the pause, the space between the out-breath and the subsequent in-breath. When the process is repeated breath after breath, you have fulfilled the third step, experiencing the whole breath. When you are comfortably at one with the breath, it will calm down automatically. There is so little remaining to disturb your progress that you naturally experience the sensations in each moment becoming softer and smoother, like a piece of rough denim changing into fine satin. Such a refinement of attention is only achieved through a gentle and persistent letting go; it is never attained by the brute force of sheer willpower. At this fourth step you will not know whether it is an in-breath or an out-breath, beginning, middle, or end. As your breath calms down, your attention becomes so refined that all you know is this one moment of breath. As your unbroken mindfulness watches the breath calming down, joy (step five) and happiness (step six) naturally arise like the golden light of dawn on an eastern horizon. This will happen gradually but automatically because all of your mental energy is now flowing into the knower and not the doer. In fact, you are not doing anything, only watching. The sure sign that you are doing nothing is the tranquility of your breath. Mental energy flowing into the knower makes mindfulness full of power, and energized mindfulness is experienced as happiness and joy. The breath at these fifth and sixth steps appears so tranquil and beautiful-more attractive than a garden in springtime or a sunset in the summer-that you wonder if you will ever want to look at anything else. As the breath becomes ever more beautiful, as the joy and happiness grow in quiet strength, your breath may seem to completely disappear. This seventh step does not happen when you want it to but when there is enough calm. A well-known passage from English literature might help clarify the experience of one's breath disappearing. In Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland," Alice is startled to see the Cheshire Cat sitting on a bough of a nearby tree and grinning from ear to ear. Like all the strange creatures in Wonderland, the Cheshire Cat has the eloquence of a politician. Not only does the Cat get the better of Alice in the ensuing conversation, but it also suddenly disappears and then, without warning, just as suddenly reappears. Alice said, "... and I wish you wouldn't keep appearing and vanishing so suddenly: you make one quite giddy! All right," said the Cat; and this time it vanished quite slowly, beginning with the end of the tail, and ending with the grin, which remained some time after the rest of it had gone. "Well! I've often seen a cat without a grin," thought Alice; "but a grin without a cat! It's the most curious thing I ever saw in all my life." This story is an eerily accurate analogy for the meditation experience. Just as the Cheshire Cat disappeared and left only its grin, so the meditator's body and breath disappear, leaving only the beautiful. For Alice, it was the most curious thing she ever saw. For the meditator it is also strange, to clearly experience a free-floating beauty with nothing to embody it, not even a breath. TWO COMMON OBSTACLES occur after this seventh step: exhilaration and fear. In exhilaration, the mind becomes excited: "Wow, this is it!" If the mind thinks like this, then the jhana is unlikely to happen. This "wow!" response needs to be subdued in the eighth step of anapanasati in favor of absolute passivity. You can leave all the wows until after emerging from the jhana, where they properly belong. The more likely obstacle, though, is fear. Fear arises from the recognition of the sheer power and bliss of the jhana, or else at the recognition that to go fully inside the jhana something must be left behind-"you!" The doer is silent before entering the jhana, but is still there. Inside the jhana, however, the doer is completely gone. Only the knower is still functioning. One is fully aware, but all the controls are now beyond reach. One cannot even form a single thought, let alone make a decision. The will is frozen, and this can be scary for beginners, who have never had the experience of being stripped of control and yet so fully awake. The fear is of surrendering an essential part of one's identity. This fear can be overcome in the eighth step through confidence in the Buddha's teachings, and through recognizing and being drawn to the enticing bliss just ahead. The Buddha often said that the bliss of the jhana should not be feared but should be followed, developed, and practiced often. So before fear arises, offer your full confidence to that bliss, maintain faith in the Buddha's teachings, and let the jhana warmly embrace you in an effortless, bodiless, ego-less, and blissful experience that will be the most profound of your life. Have the courage to fully relinquish control for a while and experience all of this for yourself. Maintain the causes of this bliss. Remain in the stillness, otherwise the bliss will go away. Ajahn Chah's famous simile of the "still forest pool" can help us understand this. When he was wandering in the jungles and forests in Thailand, he'd always try and find a stretch of water when late afternoon came. When he found a pool, stream, or a spring somewhere in the forest, he'd camp nearby overnight. Sometimes after drinking and bathing and settling in, Ajahn Chah would sit in meditation a few yards away from the pool. He said that sometimes he used to sit so still with his eyes open that he would see many animals coming out of the jungle. They wanted to bathe and drink as well. He said they would only come out if he sat very, very still. When they emerged from the bushes they would look around and sniff to see if it was safe. If they detected him, they would just go away. But if he sat absolutely still, the animals wouldn't be able to hear him. They wouldn't even be able to smell him. Then they would come out and drink. Some would drink and play in the water as if he weren't there. He said sometimes he was so still that, after the ordinary animals came out, some very strange animals emerged, beings whose names he didn't know. He'd never seen such extraordinary creatures before. His parents had never told him about them. These wonderful creatures came out to drink, but only if he was "absolutely still." This is a well-drawn simile of what happens in deep meditation. The pool or the lake is a symbol for the mind. At this eighth step of anapanasati you are just sitting before it and watching. If you give any orders, you're not being still. Beautiful creatures, like jhanas, will approach only if you're absolutely still. The ordinary ones come out first, then the very beautiful ones, and lastly the very strange and wonderful ones. These last are the amazing experiences that you have no names for, the ones you never imagined could exist because they're so strange, so blissful, so pure. These are the jhanas.Read the rest of the article.Tags: Ajahn Brahm, Stepping Toward Enlightenment, Tricycle, Buddhism, meditation, meditative states, sixteen steps, anapanasati, jhanas, Buddha

Syria Why Did God Step In

Syria Why Did God Step In
Speak to the mountain: Have you ever tried speaking to a mountain? It's not easy, is it, but that's precisely what Je-sus commands - if we want results!

"Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive."

Matthew 21:21, 22.

Didn't David practice this as he ran toward Goliath? Didn't he speak to the mountain? And didn't he get results?

"This day will the Lord deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel."

I Samuel 17:46.

What you're about to read are this author's efforts at speaking to the mountain. In saying things as if they already are, we honor God. We exercise faith - especially when the things spoken are outwardly impossible. "Them that honour me," the Lord declares, "I will honour." 1 Samuel 2:30. So let's get to it. Let's speak to the mountain.

The Sounds of War. Why did God hold back the winds of strife in Syria last week? Many reasons, no doubt, not the least of which is to save and preserve life. In the midst of these, however, is this (I'm speaking to the mountain now): what's at stake in the entire Middle East is the greatest sea change in religious thinking in the history of our planet. Though they don't know it, Moslems by the millions are about to make decisions for Christ. And Israel? After almost 2,000 years of denial, she's finally about to acknowledge her Messiah.

" For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob."

Romans 11:25 - 26.

Sermons for the Dome. What could possibly bring this sea change about? What could possibly bring millions of Moslems and Jews to see Jesus as Messiah at the same time? There's only one power on the face of the earth that can: i.e. the word of the living God!

"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do."

Hebrews 4:12 - 13.

It was Luther who wrote:

"I put forward God's word; I preached and wrote-this was all I did. And yet while I was asleep... the word that I had preached overthrew popery, so that neither prince nor emperor has done it so much harm. And yet I did nothing; the word alone did all."

The (New, Illustrated) Great Controversy, page 190.

David had faith - plus five stones!

Luther had faith - plus one poster!

We've got faith - plus stones and poster.

That poster, our sling, is set to let fly seven living stones, launched first from New York City's subways. Before these the gates of hell will come tumbling down - I'm sure of it. Evoking the legacy of the angel Gabriel, whom the Moslems call Jibril, the first two challenge. These, in combination with the remaining five (which likewise revolve around prophecy) will bring about that sea change. But we're not content with them, as though there can be no improvement here. God can easily give you some thought, some gem that can help make them better. If you've got the time, please read them. We'd appreciate any comments or insights you might have.

"(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ."

2 Corinthians 10:4, 5.

Theodicy Redux

Theodicy Redux
You'll need some background before you read the following response to Dr. Horace Jeffery Hodges. It all began with Malcolm Pollack's recent citation of my and Bill Keezer's exchange on theodicy with Roman Dawes, over at Bill's fine blog. Here's the link to Malcolm's post, Evil Still a Problem, Apparently, which links back to Bill's original post and comment thread on theodicy. Malcolm's comment thread includes a response by Dr. Hodges, who reposted his response on his own blog, with some additional remarks. See here: The Logical Problem of Evil?Dr. Hodges had commented that there exists a general consensus among philosophers (of religion) that the supposed contradictions highlighted by the original formulation of the theodicic problem are not provably contradictory. In my reply, I asked for references to this broad agreement, which led Dr. Hodges, on his own blog and by way of example, to link to a passage from William L. Rowe's "God and the Problem of Evil"-- specifically, a section titled "The Logical Problem of Evil." Rowe, in the introduction to Part II of his book, highlights the now-classic "free will defense" formulated by Christian philosopher Alvin Plantinga as a way of laying out the logical problem. [NB: whether Rowe agrees with Plantinga is another matter, since Rowe is an atheist who has formulated his own arguments against the existence of God.]What follows is a response that I began writing on Malcolm's blog (before I saw Dr. Hodges's subsequent blog post), and finished writing only a few minutes ago.
Jeff,Thank you. You write:BUT WHY IS THIS A CONTRADICTION? THE CONTRADICTION NEEDS TO BE CLEARLY DEMONSTRATED, BUT SUCH A CONTRADICTION CANNOT BE DEMONSTRATIVELY SHOWN, FOR GOD'S OMNISCIENCE AND OUR EPISTEMOLOGICAL SITUATION OF LIMITED KNOWLEDGE LEAVE OPEN THE POSSIBILITY THAT GOD HAS A GOOD REASON FOR ALLOWING EVIL THAT WE SIMPLY DO NOT KNOW AND PERHAPS CANNOT EVEN UNDERSTAND.This does indeed sound like an appeal to the "hidden harmony" argument, or something similar, given that it reaches for some occult justification of the existence of evil and suffering, thereby obliquely referencing a perspective unavailable to us here below. Most refutations of the hidden harmony argument hinge on the definition of divine omnibenevolence. If the term has any meaning at all, it has to mean that God desires "maximal" fulfillment for "all" his creatures. It cannot mean anything less than this, for anything less would entail less-than-maximal fulfillment for at least one creature. God's "good reason" for creaturely suffering, whether occult or simply unknowable, necessarily violates this definition of omnibenevolence, even if we restrict the discussion merely to what God desires, without considering how the universe has actually turned out (i.e., execution of that desire). The epistemological question -- whether we can know God's "good reason" -- is thus irrelevant, and I think the only possible response is aggressively to question the meaning of the term "omnibenevolence." Alvin Plantinga's "free will defense" leans in this direction, without actually exploring what such divine omnibenevolence might look like. For Plantinga (whom William Rowe quotes), it is enough to demonstrate that such divine reasoning is logically possible. Implied in this move is a justification for a less-than-maximally-good state of affairs, which is by implication a defense of a radically different (I would say radically "deficient") notion of omnibenevolence. Is it satisfactory? Many thinkers believe so, but as Allen Stairs notes in his "A Thinker's Guide to the Philosophy of Religion," Plantinga has teased out his defense to a potentially ridiculous extreme (p. 209):LIKE THE FREEWILL [SIC] THEODICY, A MAJOR OBJECTION TO THE FREEWILL DEFENSE IS THAT IT CANNOT ACCOUNT FOR NATURAL EVIL. PLANTINGA POINTS OUT THAT IT IS LOGICALLY POSSIBLE THAT NATURAL EVIL IS CAUSED BY SATAN OR LESSER DEMONS. THIS MIGHT SOUND WILDLY IMPLAUSIBLE...BUT REMEMBER THAT BECAUSE PLANTINGA IS GIVING A DEFENSE AND NOT A THEODICY, ALL HE NEEDS TO SHOW IS THAT IT IS LOGICALLY POSSIBLE (I.E., INVOLVES NO CONTRADICTION) THAT ALL NATURAL EVIL IS CAUSED BY MALEVOLENT SPIRITUAL BEINGS. IF HE'S RIGHT, THE FREEWILL DEFENSE ACCOUNTS FOR NATURAL EVIL BY COLLAPSING IT INTO MORAL EVIL.Plantinga's "solution" seems either to push the problem back a step (instead of asking about the existence of evil, we're now focused on the existence of Satan and his minions), or to render the matter circular: his claim is, after all, that the source of evil is evil (by which I mean the noun, not the predicate adjective).Switching gears: even if we do bring epistemology into the equation, we see right away that it doesn't require a divine mind to note the existence of human evil and suffering. The deliverances of the senses provide enough evidence that this world is less than maximally fulfilling. Everything else then follows: God knows of this state of affairs (omniscience) yet does nothing to rectify it (unexercised omnipotence). All of this militates against God's being omnibenevolent -- a stance implicitly taken by Elie Wiesel in "Night." Allen Stairs, in his "Thinker's Guide," calls this argument from observed facts "the abductive argument," i.e., an argument that makes the best possible sense of the evidence at hand. The force of the empirical evidence (or so it is contended) is such that no coherent theology can both explain reality as it is and posit an omnibenevolent, omniscient, and omnipotent God.I should step back for a second and note that the so-called "argument from evil" is generally used to "prove" that God doesn't exist. I agree with John Hick that the cosmos presents itself as "religiously ambiguous," as he puts it, thus making it impossible to prove or disprove God's existence through logic. For myself, the argument from evil strikes me as an argument about the self-contradictory ways in which God is conceived. At best, it's one argument in support of a more general one about the incoherence of personalistic theism, but can't be counted as a forceful disproof of God's existence.Final remark: the fundamental "problem" in the "problem of evil" arises from the idea that an originally pristine, harmonious moral and physical cosmos cannot possibly give rise to anything less than that perfect initial state of affairs. See John Hick, "Dialogues in the Philosophy of Religion" (2010 edition of 2001 volume), page 8:BUT MORE BASICALLY, THE IDEA THAT GOD INITIALLY CREATED A PERFECT UNIVERSE -- IN THE SENSE OF A DEPENDENT UNIVERSE THAT WAS AS GOD WANTED IT TO BE -- WHICH THEN WENT RADICALLY WRONG THROUGH THE CHOICES OF FREE BEINGS WITHIN IT, IS SELF-CONTRADICTORY. FINITELY PERFECT BEINGS IN A FINITELY PERFECT ENVIRONMENT, ALTHOUGH FREE TO SIN, WILL NOT DO SO. IF THEY DO, THEY WERE NOT PERFECT AFTER ALL. AND SO IF GOD IS THE CREATOR "EX NIHILO" OF EVERYTHING OTHER THAN GOD, THEN GOD CANNOT ESCAPE THE ULTIMATE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE ENTIRE HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSE, INCLUDING THE 'FALL' OF THE CREATURES WHO ARE PART OF IT.This is, I think, the basic point being made by people who reject theodicies. God, especially as classically conceived, can't be exculpated when it comes to the question of evil and suffering. Either there exists a morally deficient (or non-classical) God, or God simply doesn't exist.

How To Write Your Own Spell

How To Write Your Own Spell
While there's absolutely nothing wrong with using other peoples' spells -- and in fact there is an entire industry devoted to publishing books full of them -- there are times when you may wish to use your own. It may be that you can't find what you're looking for in a book, or you might just feel a need to use original material. Whatever your reasons, it's not as hard as you may think to write your own spells if you follow this very simple formula.

Here's How:

Figure out the goal or intent of the working. What is it you wish to accomplish? Are you looking for prosperity? Hoping to get a better job? Trying to bring love into your life? What is the specific aim of the spell? Whatever it may be, make sure you're clear on what it is you want -- "I will get that promotion at work!"

Determine what material components you'll need to achieve the goal. Will the working require herbs, candles, stones? Try to think outside the box when you're composing a spell -- remember that magic relies heavily on symbolism. There's nothing wrong with using unusual ingredients in a working -- Hot Wheels cars, chess pieces, bits of hardware, sunglasses and even old DVDs are all fair game.

Decide if timing is important. In some traditions, moon phase is crucial, while in others it's not significant. Generally, positive magic, or workings that draw things to you, is performed during the waxing moon. Negative or destructive magic is done during the waning phase. It may be that you feel a certain day of the week is best for the working, or even a certain hour of the day. Don't feel obligated to drown yourself in the details, though. If you're a person who feels confident doing magic on the fly without worrying about timing, then go for it.

Days of the Week

Figure out what wording or incantation -- if any -- will be verbalized during the working. Are you going to chant something formal and powerful, calling upon the gods for assistance? Will you simply mutter a poetic couplet under your breath? Or is it the sort of working where you can simply ponder the Universe in silence?

Put all of the above together into a workable form, and then, in the immortal words of the Nike commercial, Just Do It.

Tips:

Despite this being a very bare-bones and simple way of looking at spell construction, it does work effectively. You may wish to keep a magical journal or make notes in your Book of Shadows during the spell construction phase, and then keep track of results as they begin to manifest.

If a working hasn't begun to manifest within a few weeks -- some traditions say within 28 days, a lunar month -- you may want to stop and revisit the working. Figure out what variables may need to be changed.

The Universe has a quirky sense of humor, so make sure anything you cast a spell for is worded correctly. In other words, be careful what you wish for, because you just might get it!

Remember that magick is a tool and a skill set, but some common sense should prevail as well. You can cast all day to get yourself a job, but your chances of success are greatly reduced if you haven't pounded the pavement and sent out copies of your resume!

The Awakening Of The Starseed In Me Jms777 Vs Ddsd

The Awakening Of The Starseed In Me Jms777 Vs Ddsd
AND IT CAME TO PASS THAT GOD CREATED TWO BROTHERS, GOD NAMED THEM "MUTIYA" AND "ALAS". ON THE FIRST DAY GOD TAUGHT THE BROTHERS ALL DIVINE AND EARTHLY LAWS. IN THE ANOINTING, THEY KNEW TO OBEY ALL OF THE LAWS. ON THE SECOND DAY, THE ANOINTED BROTHERS KNEW TO PREPARE FOR THE DAY OF HARVEST. IT WAS ON THIS DAY THAT THE BROTHERS CHOSE THEIR EARTHLY RESPONSIBILITIES, MUTIYA DECIDED TO BECOME A SHEPHERD AND ALAS CHOSE TO BECOME A FARMER. ON THE DAY OF THE HARVEST, GOD REVEALED HIMSELF TO ALAS AND MUTIYA, IT WAS AT THIS MOMENT THAT EACH OF THEM GAVE GOD THEIR OFFERING, MUTIYA GAVE GOD HIS FIRST BORN SHEEP, ALAS DECIDED TO GIVE GOD THE BIGGEST VEGETABLES AND FRUITS OF HIS CROP. GOD WAS PLEASED WITH MUTIYA'S OFFERING, BUT UPSET WITH THE OFFERING THAT HAD BEEN GIVEN TO HIM BY ALAS. ALAS ASKED GOD: "WHY ARE YOU NOT PLEASED WITH MY OFFERING, I HAVE CHOSEN THE BEST PICKS FROM MY CROP TO GIVE TO YOU", GOD ANSWERED ALAS BY SAYING: "I HAVE INSTRUCTED BOTH YOU AND YOUR BROTHER AS TO WHAT KIND OF OFFERING IS EXPECTED OF YOU, BUT ONLY ONE OF YOU HAVE DONE AS I HAVE INSTRUCTED." THIS REPLY ANGERED ALAS AND IN HIS HEART HE ALLOWED ANGER AND JEALOUSY TO DWELL TOWARDS HIS BROTHER MUTIYA, GOD TOLD BOTH BROTHERS THAT HE WOULD REVEAL HIMSELF TO THEM ONCE MORE ON THE DAY OF THE NEXT HARVEST. ON THE THIRD DAY, MUTIYA BEGAN TO CARE ONCE MORE AFTER HIS FLOCKS WHILE ALAS BEGAN TO PREPARE THE GROUND FOR THE NEXT HARVEST. MUTIYA NOTICED THAT ONE OF HIS SHEEP WAS PREGNANT, FILLED WITH JOY, MUTIYA TOOK THE PREGNANT SHEEP AND WENT TO HIS BROTHER ALAS AND SAID: "ALAS, I WILL GIVE AS MY OFFERING TO GOD, THIS SEASON'S FIRST BORN SHEEP, ON THE DAY OF THE HARVEST", THAT NIGHT CONSUMED WITH ANGER AND JEALOUSY ALAS LIED TO HIS BROTHER MUTIYA AND TOLD HIM THAT THE PREGNANT SHEEP HAD GOTTEN SEPARATED FROM THE REST OF THE FLOCK AND WONDERED ONTO HIS FIELD, IMMEDIATELY MUTIYA WENT TO FIND HIS LOST SHEEP. NOW MUTIYA FOUND HIMSELF ON HIS BROTHERS FIELD SEARCHING FOR HIS LOST SHEEP, BUT HIS SHEEP WAS NOWHERE TO BE FOUND, AS HE WAS LEAVING HIS BROTHERS FIELD, MUTIYA SAW ALAS AND ASKED ALAS: "ALAS, WHERE ON YOUR FIELD DID YOU SEE THE LOST SHEEP? ALAS DID NOT REPLY AND CONSUMED WITH ANGER, HATRED AND JEALOUSY MURDERED HIS BROTHER MUTIYA. ON THE DAY OF THE SECOND HARVEST, ALAS BROUGHT TO GOD, MUTIYA'S NEW SHEEP AND GAVE IT TO GOD AS HIS OWN OFFERING, WHEN GOD REVEALED HIMSELF BEFORE ALAS, GOD SAID TO ALAS: "WHERE IS MUTIYA YOUR BROTHER? AND WHERE IS MUTIYA'S OFFERING?" ALAS REPLIED TO GOD BY SAYING "I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR MY BROTHER OR FOR HIS OFFERING" ANGERED BY ALAS, GOD SAID TO HIM: "YOU HAVE DISOBEYED ME AND MY LAWS, CAN YOU HEAR AS I CAN? LISTEN! YOUR BROTHER'S BLOOD CRIES OUT TO ME FROM THE GROUND. KNOW THAT YOU ARE NOW CURSED (MARKED) AND NO LONGER ALLOWED ON MY FIELD. KNOW THAT YOU HAVE MADE YOUR FIELD UNHOLY (CORRUPTED) WITH YOUR ACTIONS AND DISOBEDIENCE. KNOW THAT FROM THIS DAY ON WHEN YOU WORK THE GROUND, IT WILL NO LONGER YIELD ITS CROPS TO YOU. YOU HAVE BECOME (TRANSFORMED INTO) A RESTLESS WANDERER." ALAS SAID TO GOD, "FATHER MY PUNISHMENT IS MORE THAN I CAN BEAR. TODAY YOU ARE DRIVING ME FROM YOUR FIELD, AND NO LONGER WILL I SEE YOU, I WILL BE A RESTLESS WANDERER ON THE EARTH, AND WHOEVER FINDS ME WILL KILL ME." BUT GOD SAID TO HIM, "I WILL WRITE AND DECLARE INTO LAW, THAT ALL WHO KNOW OBEY ME, THEY WILL KNOW NOT TO KILL YOU, FOR IF ANYONE KILLS YOU HE/SHE/THEY WILL SUFFER VENGEANCE MANY TIMES OVER." THEN GOD PUT A MARK ON ALAS SO THAT NO ONE WHO FOUND HIM WOULD KILL HIM. ALAS LEFT THE HOLY FIELD AND SETTLED IN A DESERT ON EARTH. IT CAME TO PASS THAT ALAS SETTLED IN THE DESERT AND THERE HE MET ERRAWELDA A WIDOW WHO HAD A SON NAMED DELATRIAD. ALAS TOOK ERRAWELDA AS HIS WIFE AND SHE GAVE BIRTH TO A SON AND NAMED HIM ERRADELAB. ALAS TAUGHT ERRADELAB AND DELATRIAD THE LAWS THAT HAD BEEN TAUGHT TO HIM BY OUR CREATOR SO THAT THEY MAY TEACH THEIR CHILDREN IN THE WAYS OF OUR CREATOR. IN THAT TIME THE DESERT WAS CALLED DELAWELMUDINA. OUR CREATOR SENT ARUJALGODOS HIS MESSENGER TO THE HOUSE OF ALAS, THERE THE MESSENGER TOLD ALAS AND ERRAWELDA TO BUILD A WALL AROUND DELAWELMUDINA ALSO BECAUSE ERRADELAB AND DELATRIAD HAD BEEN TAUGHT THE SACRED LAWS, THEY WOULD BE REQUIRED TO BRING AN OFFERING TO GOD ON THE DAY OF THE HARVEST. ON THE DAY THE WALL WAS FINISHED, GOD BLESSED DELAWELMUDINA AND IT RAINED AND THE HOLES ON THE GROUND BECAME FILLED AND FORMED LAKES, FISH APPEARED IN THE LAKES. THE LAND BECAME FERTILE, FRUIT TREES, FLOWERS LAND AND AIR ANIMALS APPEARED OVER THE LAND AND A RAINBOW WAS SEEN OVER DELAWELMUDINA. DELATRIAD LOVED THE ANIMALS AND DECIDED HE WOULD BECOME A SHEPHERD. ERRADALEB LOVED THE TREES AND BECAME A FARMER. ON THE DAY OF THE HARVEST THE TWO BROTHERS BROUGHT TO GOD THEIR OFFERING AND PLACED THEM ON THE HOLY ALTAR, BUT GOD DID NOT APPEAR TO THE BROTHERS. THE BROTHERS WENT TO THEIR FATHER AND INFORMED HIM OF WHAT HAD TAKEN PLACE. ALAS WITH TEARS IN HIS EYES, CONFESSED OF WHAT HE HAD DONE TO HIS BROTHER MUTIYA. ALAS SAID: "I USED THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE LAWS TO KILL MY BROTHER. I DID EVIL WITH THE SACRED KNOWLEDGE. ALAS INSTRUCTED DELATRIAD AND ERRADALEB TO NEVER USE THE SACRED KNOWLEDGE OF THE LAWS FOR WHAT IN THE EYES OF OUR CREATOR IS EVIL. THE NEXT DAY OUR CREATOR SENT ARUJALGODOS HIS MESSENGER TO THE HOUSE OF ALAS, THERE THE MESSENGER TOLD ALAS AND ERRAWELDA THAT ON THE DAY OF THE NEXT HARVEST GOD WOULD SHOW HIMSELF TO THEIR CHILDREN, BUT THAT ON THAT DAY THOSE WHO HAD MISUSED THE SACRED KNOWLEDGE OF THE LAWS WOULD PERISH FOR ETERNITY. IT CAME TO PASS THAT WHILE ATTENDING TO HIS FLOCK OF SHEEP DELATRIAD NOTICED ONE MISSING, HE LOOKED FOR HIS MISSING SHEEP ALL OVER DELAWELMUDINA, BUT DID NOT FIND HIS SHEEP. DELATRIAD WENT TO THE HOLY ALTAR AND ASKED GOD TO HELP HIM FIND HIS MISSING SHEEP. THE NEXT DAY MOSIR A MESSENGER OF GOD CAME TO DELATRIAD, THE MESSENGER TOLD DELATRIAD THAT HE WOULD FIND HIS MISSING SHEEP OUTSIDE THE GATES OF DELAWELMUDINA NEAR THE CITY OF SANMUDINA, IMMEDIATELY DELATRIAD LEFT DELAWELMUDINA AND HEADED FOR SANMUDINA, WHEN DELATRIAD GOT TO SANMUDINA HE MET A WOMAN BY THE NAME OF BAJARAJAYET WHO TOLD HIM THAT SHE HAD FOUND HIS SHEEP, SHE SAID YOUR SHEEP WAS WOUNDED AND SO I CARED FOR IT AND RESTORED ITS HEALTH. DELATRIAD FELL IN LOVE WITH BAJARAJAYET AND TOOK HER AS HIS WIFE. DELATRIAD AND BAJARAJAYET HAD FOUR DAUGHTERS, SHUMELI, DESHAK, YENUB AND EJOREBA AND TWO SONS FOULKO AND OKOLMENA. IT CAME TO PASS THAT GOD SENT MOSIR TO THE HOUSE OF DELATRIAD AND BAJARAJAYET, MOSIR TOLD THEM TO TEACH THEIR CHILDREN THE SACRED LAWS, THAT NIGHT DELATRIAD BEGAN TO TEACH ALL HIS CHILDREN JUST AS ALAS HAD DONE WITH HIM AND HIS BROTHER. DELATRIAD LOOKED AT ALL HIS CHILDREN AND SAID: THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS FOR THE SHEPHERD WHO HAS PLANTED GOOD SEEDS OVER THE LAND THAT OUR CREATOR HAS BLESSED HIM WITH. ON THE NIGHT THE LAW OF OUR CREATOR WAS BROKEN, THE DIVIDER AND HIS FLOCK CORRUPTED THE HOLY FIELD BY PLANTING EVIL SEEDS OVER THE HOLY FIELD AND INTO THE SHADOWS THE DIVIDER AND HIS FLOCK VANISHED, IT CAME TO BE THAT THE NIGHT TURNED TO DAY AND BOTH THE GOOD SEEDS AND THE BAD SEEDS SPRANG UP AND BROUGHT FORTH FRUIT TREES, IT CAME TO PASS THAT THE SHEPHERDS ONLY SON BECAME HUNGRY AND WENT TO HIS FATHERS LAND AND CONSUMED THE FRUIT BORN OF THE BAD SEEDS, AFTER HE CONSUMED OF THE EVIL TREE THE SHEPHERDS SON DIED, WHEN THE SHEPHERDS SERVANTS WITNESSED WHAT HAD TAKEN PLACE THEY INFORMED THE SHEPHERD BY SAYING; "YOUR SON HAS DIED AT THE HANDS OF YOUR ENEMY, YOUR LAND HAS BEEN CORRUPTED WITH EVIL SEEDS AND HAS BROUGHT FORTH EVIL FRUIT, YOUR SON HAS CONSUMED THE FRUIT OF THE EVIL TREE AND HAS DIED, WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE US DO? SHOULD WE UPROOT THE EVIL FRUIT TREES AND DESTROY ITS POISONED FRUITS?", THE SHEPHERD REPLIED BY SAYING: "NO, FOR IF THE EVIL TREES ARE UPROOTED NOW THE GOOD TREES WILL BE DAMAGED, I WILL ALLOW THEM TO GROW TOGETHER UNTIL THE NEXT HARVEST, EDUCATE YOUR CHILDREN OF WHICH TREE THEY MAY EAT, TEACH THEM TO KNOW AND RECOGNISE THE EVIL TREES AND ITS FRUITS, SO THAT THEY MAY NOT PERISH AT THE HANDS OF MY ENEMY, ON THE DAY OF THE HARVEST, I WILL TELL THE REAPERS TO GATHER UP THE EVIL FRUIT TREES AND BIND THEM IN BUNDLES TO BE DESTROYED", KNOW THAT ON THE DAY OF THE HARVEST I WILL INSTRUCT MY SERVANTS TO GATHER THE FRUITS OF THE GOOD TREES AND KEEP THEM SAFE IN MY BARN. WHEN THE DAY OF THE HARVEST HAD PASSED GOD BLESSED HIS SHEPHERD WITH ANOTHER SON AND SAID TO HIM; "MANY SERVANTS WILL COME TO THE GATES OF YOUR FIELD, BUT FEW WILL BE ALLOWED TO ENTER." IT CAME TO PASS THAT GOD SENT HIS MESSENGER MOSIR TO THE HOUSE OF ALAS AND ERRAWELDA, MOSIR TOLD ALAS AND ERRAWELDA THAT A DROUGHT HAD DESTROYED THE CROPS IN THE LAND GOD HAD BLESSED DELATRIAD AND BAJARAJAYET WITH, MOSIR TOLD ALAS AND ERRAWELDA TO SEND ERRADALEB ALONG WITH HALF OF ALL THEIR CROPS, AS WELL AS HALF OF ALL THE WATER, LAND AND AIR ANIMALS TO THE LAND OF DELATRIAD AND BAJARAJAYET. WHEN ERRADALEB HAD GATHERED ALL THAT HAD BEEN INSTRUCTED TO HIM BY ALAS AND ERRAWELDA, MOSIR APPEARED BEFORE ERRADALEB AND GUIDED HIM TO HIS BROTHERS LAND WHICH GOD CALLED ALAHADAHWIL. WHEN ERRADALEB ARRIVED AT ALAHADAHWIL THE SMELL OF ROTTING FLESH FILLED THE AIR. ERRADALEB CALLED OUT TO HIS BROTHER, DELATRIAD FILLED WITH JOY, RAN TO HIS BROTHER AND TEARS BEGAN TO FILL HIS EYES, HE TOLD HIS BROTHER THAT ALL HIS CROPS AND ANIMALS HAD BEEN DESTROYED BY THE DROUGHT AND THAT HIS CHILDREN AND WIFE WERE VERY SICK, HE SAID I CALLED OUT TO GOD FOR HELP AND HAS BROUGHT YOU TO ME. ERRADALEB WIPED HIS BROTHERS TEARS AND TOLD HIM, GOD HAS SENT ME TO REPLENISH YOUR LAND. ERRADALEB WENT TO HIS BROTHERS HOUSE AND THERE, HIS HEART WAS FILLED WITH HORROR, BECAUSE HIS BROTHERS FAMILY LOOKED LIKE LIVING CORPSES, IMMEDIATELY ERRADALEB TOLD DELATRIAD, LET US DO AS OUR FATHER ALAS AND OUR MOTHER ERRAWELDA TAUGHT US, THE LAW INSTRUCTS US TO INVITE GOD'S HEALING UPON OUR FAMILY, THEY ALL HELD HANDS AND BEGAN TO CALL GOD, IMMEDIATELY THEY HEARD A VOICE COME FROM THE HEAVENS, THE VOICE SAID, I AM YOUR CREATOR, BECAUSE YOU HAVE DONE AS I HAVE INSTRUCTED IN THE LAW, YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ARE NOW RESTORED, IMMEDIATELY BAJARAJAYET, SHUMELI, DESHAK, YENUB, EJOREBA, FOULKO AND OKOLMENA WERE RESTORED. WHEN DELATRIAD AND ERRADALEB WALKED OUTSIDE OF THEIR HOME THEY SAW A RESTORED ALAHADAHWIL, THE SMELL OF ROTTING FLESH HAD VANISHED AND ONCE AGAIN YOU COULD HEAR THE BIRDS SINGING. IT WAS AT THIS MOMENT THAT MOSIR APPEARED BEFORE BAJARAJAYET, SHUMELI, DESHAK, YENUB, EJOREBA, FOULKO AND OKOLMENA AND SAID, TODAY YOU HAVE WITNESSED THE FIRST LAW OF GOD. MOSIR TOLD BAJARAJAYET, SHUMELI, DESHAK, YENUB, EJOREBA, FOULKO AND OKOLMENA TO GRAB A HANDFUL OF DIRT FROM THE GROUND SITTING AT THEIR FEET AND INSTRUCTED THEM BY SAYING, TODAY GOD HAS MADE YOU RESPONSIBLE FOR TEACHING ALL THOSE WHO COME UPON YOUR LAND, THE LAWS THAT GOD HAS TAUGHT YOU AND YOUR FAMILY TODAY. THE NEXT DAY ERRADALEB WENT BACK TO DELAWELMUDINA TO CARE FOR ALL THAT GOD HAD BLESSED HIM WITH.

Should Pagans Celebrate Halloween

Should Pagans Celebrate Halloween
"Is it anti-Pagan to bash Halloween? How do Halloween and Samhain combine, if at all, to one another? I grew up handy Halloween, but it now seems rude to me to go out collecting sweetie the same as I'm apparent to be celebratory the spirits of my dead introduce somebody to an area."

Award is no cancellation along with Halloween and Samhain, seeing that they are individual entities. Immobile afar Evangelical Christians rant about the Pagan birth of Halloween and it's apparent basis in evil and demonic energy, blah blah blah, modern Halloween revels actually bolt very short to do with the seasons birth. Put on at PaganCentric, we total view Halloween as a everyday celebration that occurs on October 31st and Samhain as a holier-than-thou celebration that begins at midnight on November 1st once upon a time October becomes November. Generally, November 1st is Samhain. October 31st is Halloween. There's no common sense Pagans can't bash apiece. Respectable observe to knock around a moment in your Halloween revelries to knock around memo of the calendar booming complete to November 1st, which is, for us at least amount, the beginning of the Pagan new year.

Meaningfully one and the same Yule and Christmas, Samhain and Halloween are two an assortment of ways of observing the exceedingly time of year. Take upon yourself of Samhain as the spiritual conscript, and Halloween as the everyday. There's no common sense at all why you can't bash apiece if you aid.

A outside feature of the Pagan community finds the whole Halloween thing stomach-churning. If it doesn't vibes petit mal to you, subsequently don't do it. If you're one of folks children who vibes that Halloween trivializes Samhain, don't bash it. But if you be interested in to bash apiece, there's no wrangle. There's no common sense you can't respect the moderation of Samhain in adding together to the fun of Halloween. A fate of kids collecting sweetie and sufficient one and the same pirates and monsters shouldn't exigency Pagans' holier-than-thou beliefs any advanced than Santa Claus indigence challenge Christians' inside the Yule season. If your introduce somebody to an area know that you venerate and respect them, they won't be in a state by the pen of a Snickers bar or the spend of suspension spirits. Respectable don't get the two tedious and light a candle on your alter for the Frankenstein monster!

In the end, it's a issue forth of possess route. I know Christians who do not bash the everyday aspects of Christmas, who don't put up a tree or fix up their homes with images of Santa Claus. For them that is a issue forth of try. But greatest extent Christians don't find a wrangle along with the everyday revels and the spiritual, and neither indigence Pagans inside Halloween and Samhain. If Halloween bothers you, don't bash. If it doesn't and you be interested in to exploit the everyday celebration of Halloween, don't be anxious. The simply consciousness who can expose you what is petit mal and amend for you IS you.

Summer Solstice Sun Prayer For Protection

Summer Solstice Sun Prayer For Protection
Dhr. Seven and Amber Larson, Sensation QUARTERLY edit, Ven. Piyadassi Thera, "Suriya Sutta": The Sun Deity's Statement [Pretext] for Attention" (SN 2.10); DEBORAH BYRD; SANSKRIT.ORG

"

Time was the meeting began, our vimana
" (spacecraft/planet) was very sample to perihelion -- and today, the SOLSTICE, light divides the day in shortened (earthsky.org).

Consequently enjoy I heard. On one fate the Holy One (Buddha) was living near Savatthi at Jetavana in Anathapindika's abbey. At that time Suriya (SURYA) the Sun DEVA, was detained by RAHU (ASURINDA) Supercilious of TITANS ["demons"].

Thereupon, inclination to common sense the Holy One, Suriya the Sun "deva" recited the following stanza:

"O Buddha, the Spiritual-Hero, rather unrestricting of all DEFILEMENTS, my worship to thee! I enjoy fallen at home sorrowfulness. Blunt me!"

"

The War in Heaven: Samudra manthan shows Lord VISHNU in the spirit, in his Kurma avatar, with the Titans (Asuras") and the DEVAS on either perimeter. The Churning of the Oceanic of Milk (Overcast Way?) is throughout depicted in bas-relief on the south of the east wall of the third enclosure of the all-powerful Cambodian Buddhist temple ANGKOR WAT (wiki playing field).

Thereupon, the Holy One addressed a stanza to Rahu Supercilious of Titans on behalf of Suriya:

"

Rahu and Ketu in the flesh (ExoticIndia.com)

"O Rahu, Suriya has gone for Working out to the Migratory (TATHAGATA), the Consummate One. Plunge Suriya. The buddhas" emit affection on the world (of all beings).

"O Rahu, filch not the dispeller of dimness [Sun], the shining one [block kind of "deva"], the glowing and effulgent tourist through the sky. Rahu, back number Suriya, my son [aficionada, next of kin]."

Thereupon, Rahu Supercilious of Titans unbound Suriya and immediately came to the apparition of VEPACITTI, the Supercilious of Titans, and stood before him quivering in be bothered with hair standing on end.

Consequently Vepacitti addressed Rahu in the following stanza:

"Rahu, why did you impulsively back number Suriya? Why enjoy you come trembling? Why are you standing throughout terrified?"

"I enjoy been uttered to by the Buddha in a stanza (requesting me to back number Suriya). If I had not unbound Suriya my chief would enjoy detach at home seven pieces. Despite the fact that yet I delay, I hardship enjoy had no cheerfulness. (Consequently I unbound Suriya)."

"

Why do some Indian astrologers, Buddhist and Hindu, stillness distrust that the unnoticeable planets (asuras "or mythological demons") Rahu and Ketu take lunar eclipses? (SANSKRIT.ORG)

The Magic Of Words

The Magic Of Words
SO MANY PEOPLE TODAY ARE DISSATISFIED WITH THEIR LOT IN LIFE! THEY ARE IN A BAD TEMPER WITH THE WHOLE WORLD, JUST BECAUSE LIFE IS DIFFICULT. THEY ARE CONSTANTLY FLINGING ABUSE AT ANYONE WHOSE LIFE SEEMS EASIER OR WHOM THEY HOLD RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN MISFORTUNES.

WHEN THEY DO THIS, ALTHOUGH THEY MAY NOT KNOW IT, THEIR WORDS ARE CHARGED WITH SUCH VENOMOUS, DESTRUCTIVE POWER THAT THEY CAN DO REAL DAMAGE TO OTHERS. YOU MUST REALIZE THAT NO ONE HAS THE RIGHT TO DO THIS!

WHEN YOU FEEL THE NEED TO SAY SOMETHING TO HUMILIATE OR WOUND OTHERS, SIMPLY BECAUSE YOU ARE BEING PUT OUT, DON'T GIVE IN TO IT. COMPLAIN AS MUCH AS YOU LIKE! CRY IF YOU HAVE TO. BUT LEAVE OTHERS ALONE, OTHERWISE YOU WILL BE CALLED INTO ACCOUNT BY YOUR KARMA.

EACH ONE OF US MUST KEEP WATCH ON OUR BEHAVIOR AND RECOGNIZE THE DANGER INVOLVED AND IT'S DESTRUCTIVE TENDENCY. IT IS A LIFE LONG BATTLE, THESE "BEASTS WITHIN." TO REVILE OTHERS IS A WEAKNESS, NOT A STRENGTH, STILL LESS SOMETHING TO BE PROUD OF!

IF YOU TAKE THE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS AND TRY TO OVERCOME THIS TENDENCY, SOONER OR LATER, YOU WILL GET THE BETTER OF IT. BUT YOU WILL NEVER GET THE BETTER OF IT IF YOU THINK THAT IT IS MAGNIFICENT TO BEHAVE LIKE THAT. YOU HAVE ONLY TO IMAGINE WHAT YOU WOULD FEEL LIKE IF YOU HAD THIS ATTITUDE AND YOU MET YOUR MATCH, ANOTHER INDIVIDUAL WHO STOOD UP TO YOU AND CRUSHED AND HUMILIATED YOU IN YOUR TURN.

YES, PEOPLE WHO ARE CONTINUALLY RAILING AT OTHERS MUST REALIZE THAT SOONER OR LATER, THEY ARE GOING TO MEET SOMEONE WHO IS EVEN BETTER AT IT THAN THEY ARE. THOSE WHO ARE COARSE AND UNCOUTH WILL ALWAYS FIND OTHERS WHO ARE COURSER.

NO SINGLE WORD WE UTTER REMAINS WITHOUT EFFECT. DIONE FORTUNE SAID, "BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU SAY AS BEFORE YOU DIE YOU HAVE TO EAT EVERY WORD!"

THIS IS WHY IT IS IMPORTANT, AS SOON AS YOU REALIZE THAT AN UNKIND OR UNJUST WORD ABOUT SOMEONE HAS ESCAPED YOU, TO CONCENTRATE AND SEND THAT PERSON A GREAT DEAL OF LOVE AND LIGHT. BUT EVEN IF YOU DO THIS, A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF DAMAGE MAY HAVE ALREADY BEEN DONE AND IT TAKES TIME FOR THE EFFECTS OF YOUR GOOD THOUGHTS TO MAKE THEMSELVES FELT.

MOHAMMAD'S WORDS ARE VERY PROFOUND,"THE FEATHERS HAVE ALL BEEN BLOWN AWAY AND THERE IS NO WAY OF GETTING THEM BACK." EMIT POSITIVE, BENEFICIAL FORCES AND THEY WILL PRODUCE POSITIVE, BENEFICIAL EFFECTS. EMIT NEGATIVE FORCES AND THE EFFECTS WILL BE NEGATIVE.

THIS EXPLAINS HOW GOOD AND EVIL CONTINUE TO CO-EXIST BUT, ON TWO DIFFERENT LEVELS. EVIL PRODUCES EVIL AND GOOD PRODUCES GOOD.

THIS IS WHY WE MUST WORK HAD, EVERY DAY TO MAKE OUR WORDS INTELLIGENT, LUMINOUS AND HARMONIOUS. IN THIS WAY IT WILL WORK WONDERS WITHIN OURSELVES. BUT IT WILL ALSO WORK WONDERS IN THE WHOLE OF NATURE.

TRUE MAGIC IS THE POTENT, LIVING WORD, THE WORD THAT COMES FROM THE CREATOR. THIS IS THE WORD THAT FLOWS FROM THE DIVINE SOURCE.

BRIGHTEST OF BLESSINGS,

LORY
